1.)   September Monthly Early Learning Virtual Professional Development: Supporting Friendship Skills and Creating a Culture of Friendship Tuesday, September 17th 6:00pm – 8:00pm

Each month this school year we will be offering a free virtual Professional Development opportunity for all Early Learning staff. Our September monthly virtual training will be Supporting Friendship Skills and Creating a Culture of Friendship. It will be presented by our friends at the Haring Center and will take place virtually on Tuesday, September 17th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Upon completion participants in Licensed Programs will receive 2 STARS hours and CLOCK hours for those that need them will also be available.

Please click on the link to register. Following your registration I will send you a zoom link to connect to the training: Early Learning Professional Development: Supporting Friendship Skills and Creating a Culture of Friendship - My Catholic School

2.)   Butterfly Pediatrics Monthly Meeting – Tuesday September 24th at 3:15pm

This school year we will again be joined monthly by our Partners at Butterfly Pediatrics as their experts join us virtually to answer your questions and give resources/ideas about behavior, social emotional needs and sensory processing situations in your classrooms. Our first session this year will be Tuesday, September 24th at 3:15pm.

To make the most of our hour with them can you please email me at david.mayer@seattlearch.org  by Monday, September 23rd at 12:00pm with any behavior, social emotional needs and sensory processing situations you are dealing with that you would like the experts from Butterfly Pediatrics to discuss during the virtual meeting. I will be sending these case studies in advance to the Butterfly team so they can be prepared to give you as much information as possible during our time together. Even if you are not able to join the meeting, you can still submit situations and we will record the conversations and send a recording link. Also, please feel free to also send this information to your Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade teachers as they are now invited to these meetings as well! Thank you!

3.)   Early Learning Article of the Week

Our Early Learning programs incorporate play in so many diverse and important ways. When parents ask why play is so important in the education of their preschool children I hope this article can provide some great information. This week’s article comes from NAEYC (the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Their website has an immense amount of wonderful resources to check out. Check out this link and the article below: NAEYC

4.)   Licensed ONLY: Licensed Program Webinar: Tuesday, September 17th at 4:00pm

This school year I will host a Licensed Program Webinar on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 4:00pm. These will be open mic sessions. I will be available for an hour and you can join and ask any question that you have that pertains to running a licensed Early Learning Program. Looking forward to the conversations. Please see link below for the first session on September 17th.

5.)   Licensed ONLY: Licensing WAC of the Week – Forms and Documents

This week’s WAC of the week is a resource page on the DCYF website. The Forms and Documents page has a bevy of templates that can be used at your program including in alphabetical order: Child Injury/Incident Report, Daily Attendance Records, Fire Safety and Emergency Drills, Individual Care Plan, Medication Log and Medication Authorization Form, Example Monitoring Visit Checklist (the item’s Licensors will look for on their annual visit) and more. Not all documents are needed or relevant for your program, but this is always a great place to start if you need a template. Please let me know if you have any questions on any of these resources.
