Selected fellows will be part of a 10-member cohort of professionals, who will work through a 10-month curriculum to examine and address state and national policies that impact out-of-school time programs. Fellows will be asked to identify one issue impacting challenges to this sector in their community that they wish to examine as part of this fellowship.
Fellows will participate in eight virtual meetings and two in-person events. (Access the full schedule and session descriptions here.) The April event in Tallahassee, for which travel-related expenses are covered, includes access to the state Capitol, where fellows will observe the legislative process while learning best practices for effecting change.
Throughout the year, fellows will be encouraged to foster and maintain relationships to expand their spheres of influence. The Afterschool Advocacy Fellowship Program begins in January and will culminate in a graduation ceremony and recognition at the annual afterschool conference in October.
