Donor Spotlight:
Sara and Michelle Vance Waddell
|
|
A gift of $10,000 from long-time supporters, Sara and Michelle Vance Waddell, will help PIN clients whose pets have special dietary needs. Some health issues are manageable only with prescription food; but many of our clients are not able to afford that monthly cost. The gift will provide subsidies to lower the cost to an affordable level.
The gift was inspired by their beloved dog, Ziva (left), who suffers from intestinal issues. Michelle explained, “Once we started her on a prescription diet, it completely changed her life! We can’t imagine not being able to afford it. For us, this donation is a very meaningful way to support PIN families who love their fur babies as much as we love ours."

Cheryl Harris, DVM, DACVIM: Up Close & Personal
|
|
We are fortunate to have several special friends who quietly support the clinic behind the scenes.
Dr. Cheryl Harris is one of them. Since 2015 she has been our pro bono Medical Advisor, serving as an invaluable resource for our veterinarians and providing advanced diagnostic services we’re unable to provide in-house.
Dr. Harris is a graduate of The OSU College of Veterinary Medicine and is a board-certified veterinary oncologist. While in vet school, her father was diagnosed with lymphoma, thus her interest in oncology. She is the practice owner of Veterinary Oncology & Referral Clinic in Milford.
Outside of work, Dr. Harris stays very active with her four German Shorthaired Pointers. “Many days I
feel like a soccer mom. They participate in so many activities and competitions -- AKC obedience, tracking, dock diving, hunt tests, Fast CAT, lure coursing, and therapy dog work.” Her dog Spenser is only the third GSP to become a Champion Tracker.
Thank you, Dr. Harris, for your ongoing support!

Introducing Nicole and Tricia
|
|
Meet Tricia and Nicole -- our new front desk “go-to” team. If you’ve ever visited the clinic, you’ve seen firsthand the many roles our Client Service Coordinators play. They’re responsible for checking in clients, keeping order in the lobby, answering phone calls, processing applications, and handling medication pickups – just to name a few.
Nicole (left) joined us in mid-March. She loves animals and held several pet-related jobs before moving
to Cincinnati from Arkansas. She and her husband live with their dogs, Penny, and Albus. “My pets have helped me through some tough times so I can relate to our clients.” Nicole's other interests include
hiking, reading, camping, bike riding, photography, and Gaelic Football.
Tricia, (right) is our newest PIN employee and is a born customer service ambassador. Her past experience includes working with older adults and the disabled. She enjoys spending time with her grandkids, playing bingo, and her new position at PIN. “The staff has been so welcoming. I feel a part
of a great team and that makes for a pleasant workday, every day.”

What Dedication Looks Like
|
After being sidelined for 6 weeks Dr. Ron Abrams has rejoined the team. One of our devoted veterinarians, he had rotator cuff surgery in mid-April. Despite the limitations of the contraption he had to wear, he was determined to return to work as soon as possible. "I'm happy to be back in the clinic with the dogs and kitties," he said. "But my wife is twice as glad to get me out of the house!" (We missed you, Dr. A...and your wit!)

Paper Towels Top Our Wish List!
|
|
Ugh! The number of paper towels used during a clinic day is astounding – and expensive. We do use washable cloth towels whenever possible, but some things call for a throw-away -- wiping pet butts, catching drool, and cleaning up “accidents”, to name a few.

His name is Hard Body, but his human calls him "a big softy." She said he was the calmest dog at the shelter. And that's how he grabbed her heart. "I think he's a human trapped in a dog's body."
