Help Signing Up for Medicare and Medicare Part D
Fremont Township offers a free service to Fremont Township residents only to help sign up for Medicare and Medicare Part D. Each year you should be evaluating which prescription plan best suits your needs based on the medications you are on.
We have found that many people never evaluate their prescription drug care plan. You should be looking at this every year. Our residents have found comfort in having help to make sure they are in the right program.
We are taking appointments from October 17 through December 5. Changes made to your Prescription Drug plan will take effect on January 1, 2023.
If you would like to make an appointment with the Ship Counselor, please call Nancy at 847 223-2847.
You will need to have an online account with Medicare and a list of your current prescriptions before making an appointment, as you will need them when you speak with the Ship Counselor.
If you need help creating on-line access, let Nancy know when you call.
If you are turning 65 and need help signing up for Medicare, the counselor can also help you with that.

ECO-Corner By Jenn Cameron
The active presence of hawks is a positive indicator of the overall health of the Lake County ecosystem! Hawks are diurnal as they are active during the day vs. nocturnal like owls who are active at night. The dining habits of hawks are an important way Mother Nature provides a check-and-balance on the population of reptiles, insects, other birds, and mammals like mice, chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits. Hawks are also a federally protected species under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Here are a few general descriptions to help you identify which of the common Northern Illinois hawks have you enraptured:
Red-tailed Hawk: larger body; lighter breast with brown streaking marks; head and top feathering is brownish; short tail shows rust "red" coloring when fanned out; courtship and mating pair perform aerial maneuvers high in the sky.
Cooper's Hawk: mid-size body; lighter breast with brown streaking marks; head and top feathering is brownish; longer tail with horizontal bands and rounded tip; breeds and hunts in suburban and urban habitats.
Sharp-shinned Hawk: smaller, more slender body; tan breast with white streaking marks; head and top feathering is slate grey; longer tail with horizontal bands and squared or slightly notched tip; has very long middle toes and large eyes.
Hawks are mostly quiet, secretive, and perch very still while waiting and watching ... Grab your binoculars!
