GOED, DCI Launch Earned Media Campaign
GOED is working to get in the headlines through an earned media campaign and an inbound media tour that took place earlier this fall.

"We have partnered with DCI (Development Councillers International) to pitch story ideas and host reporters to help tell the South Dakota story," said GOED Commissioner Scott Stern. "DCI has extensive industry contacts, and utilizing them only makes sense for this sort of campaign.

As a result of focused, proactive story pitching, Dakota State University’s Madison Cyber Labs earned multi-page articles from Industry Today and Scoop News Group. And, Rob Hrabe, CEO of VRC Metal Systems in Rapid City was tapped by Chief Executive Magazine to discuss his company’s growth.

The dairy and food processing industries were the focus of GOED’s inbound media tour. GOED hosted six reporters, and to date, two multi-page pieces have been published in Food Business News and Ag Week.

“The results of this campaign are not final yet, but we are pleased so far. When DCI typically sets up a tour like ours, their goal is two to three reporters. We had six on our media tour, which shows that interest in South Dakota is great," Stern said.

Stern added that there are a couple articles still pending that are expected to be published in coming weeks.
Watch For Changes on GOED Website
The GOED's recruitment website, www.sdreadytowork.com, is undergoing some major changes. The new site is expected to launch by the end of 2018.

"We are working on making our recruitment site more useful, more user-friendly, and more modern in design and function," said GOED Commissioner Scott Stern.
Scott Stern Resigning as GOED Commissioner
Scott Stern will leave his position as Commissioner of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) at the end of this month, Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced.

Aaron Scheibe, GOED’s deputy commissioner, will serve as interim commissioner from Dec. 1 for the remainder of the Daugaard administration.
