The power of story

Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day (4/25) with our coverage of the Norwich Bookstore Author Talks. In this episode, author, professor, and former New Yorker staff writer Sue Halpern chats with Rob Gurwitt (the creator of the newsletter Daybreak) about her new book, What We Leave Behind.

Our local glacier

For Earth Day (4/22), explore the ice age’s impact on the Connecticut River Valley in the The Last Ice: Glacial Lake Hitchcock, a documentary by NH teacher Greg Stott and VT filmmaker Nick Natale that also features local landmarks from the Upper Valley, all the way down to the Pioneer Valley in MA.

Video killed the...

Mourn the last days of Chico Eastridge’s popular Videostop II installation at JAM by watching us surprise Upper Valley actor John Griesemer with a screening of The Time Keepers of Eternity, an experimental movie he’s in, but has never seen nor heard of. Cry because it's over; smile because it happened!

Shelf Help

Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day (4/25) with Shelf Help, a podcast where booksellers help you answer one of life’s trickier – and we’d argue extremely important – questions: What should you read next?

Shelf Help is a collaboration between the Book Jam (a nonprofit designed to inspire readers), JAM, and three Upper Valley bookstores: Yankee Bookshop (Woodstock, VT), the Norwich Bookstore (Norwich, VT), and Still North Books & Bar (Hanover, NH).

JAM relies on diverse funding sources to sustain our nonprofit community media services promoting civic engagement and transparency in local government. We wish to thank the Comcast and VTel cable subscribers, voters in our service area towns, the State of Vermont, individual donors, local business sponsors, and public and private foundations who make JAM's work possible.
