Earth Hospice Rites

is a bi-weekly online gathering

in which we share our grief and confusion

about the looming threat of climate change—

and open up to the marvels

Earth offers us everywhere and every day.

Earth Hospice Rites is an online gathering place to lament, celebrate, and share stories about the places and species we love that are endangered by climate change.

We use the word "hospice" for this time of shared mindfulness, because, although the Earth itself is not dying, of course, something very dear to us humans is passing away, and that is our relationship with the seasons, plants, animals, waters, and sense of the future, as we know and love them.

We meet both to acknowledge the losses and also to bring forth some of the qualities that make hospice for humans so sacred and meaningful: attentiveness, sorrow, intense appreciation for the moment, and of course love.

We meet on Zoom every other Wednesday for 20 minutes, with an optional 10 minutes after the ritual for participants to share responses. Hosts are Trebbe Johnson, author and founder of Radical Joy for Hard Times, and Alison Cornish, program director of The BTS Center.

Free of charge.
