Cyanide in Waters Near China Blast Site 277 Times Acceptable Level: Government Report
A report from the Tianjin Environmental Protection Bureau said that tests showed that cyanide levels in water in the evacuated area around the explosion site had risen sharply since the deadly blasts, with one testing site recording cyanide levels 277 times above acceptable standards. This role will also be responsible for managing EMC's global carbon accounting management program, working closely with EMC's Office of Sustainability. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, this position is located in Des Moines, IA. The ideal candidate will be asked to establish and administer EH&S procedure and safety programs throughout the corporation at multiple work sites located throughout the Midwest, ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local Government Regulations (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, DOT, Fire Department, etc.), act as the primary contact for Federal, State and Local inspectors including OSHA, IDNR, and EPA. S/he will also help develop controls for identified hazards, coordinate the implementation of controls from result of hazard analysis. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work place accidents and injuries. B.A or B.S. from a four-year college or university and 2-5 years of relevant experience in a health and safety field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and a knowledge of safety programs as well as workers compensation. CSP, CIH, or CHMM preferred. Experience in First Aid, CPR and AED certified preferred.

The position is accountable for recommending appropriate EHSS goals and budgets along with appropriate metrics associated with monitoring performance across Carus Group. It will also champion the PSM policies and provide training at all levels of the organization to encourage employee participation and culture change as it relates to process safety and be responsible for directing, executing and/or supervising safety and health programs at Carus Group locations utilizing an engaging behavioral based approach. A BS in engineering, preferably chemical, environmental or mechanical along with 10 or more years of experience in a chemical/petrochemical setting with at least 5 years overseeing multiple locations is required. OSHA PSM, EPA RMP preferred.
