2021 East Bay Innovation Awards - Nominate Your East Bay Innovators!

East Bay EDA is preparing to launch the nominations process for the 2021 East Bay Innovation Awards next week!

Often referred to as the “Academy Awards of the East Bay,” the East Bay Innovation Awards is the premiere program of its kind that celebrates and honors the extraordinary companies and organizations that contribute to the East Bay’s legacy of innovation.

Please take a moment to think about companies, organizations and individuals that should be recognized for their innovative work and get ready to nominate them starting next week! This year’s nomination areas include Advanced Manufacturing, Arts & Culture, Built Environment, Clean Tech, Community Impact, Education, Engineering & Design, Food, Health/Life Sciences, and Technology.

The 2021 Innovation Awards nomination period will open on April 28 and run through May 28, so be sure to submit your nominations next week!

Join East Bay EDA and the Port of Oakland on Tuesday, April 27 (10-11 AM) for "Port Economics," a speaker series webinar highlighting the impact of the Port of Oakland on the East Bay and Northern California economy. We're excited to feature the following panelists:

Regional Vaccine Update

With the expansion of vaccine eligibility to all residents ages 16 and older, the State of California has vaccinated roughly half of all residents as of April 20, 2021. Find appointment locations and access other resources by visiting Alameda Health Care Services Agency and Contra Costa Health Services or the State of California COVID-19 page for the latest updates.
Small Business Resources

With positive economic signs on the horizon, investments in relief options for small businesses from the American Rescue Plan (ARP) recently became available for small businesses trying to recover from the impacts of COVID-19. Additionally, investments from the State of California are also available to help businesses and nonprofits across California.

Like many organizations, East Bay EDA has welcomed a number of new individuals to the organization's leadership in 2021! We are pleased to welcome new business members from the manufacturing sector, education leaders, elected officials, and other community leaders this year. Celebrating Earth Day 2021

This Earth Day, East Bay EDA acknowledges the original stewards of the East Bay, the Lisjan Ohlone people. Before the familiar landmarks of the Bay Bridge and the Tribune Tower, just a couple centuries ago the Bay Area was a lush land of abundance, oak savannas, Bison, yes, Bison, salmon runs, acorns, and plentiful food and fresh water sources. The Lisjan Ohlone people are synonymous with another name, Corrina Gould, tribal spokesperson for the Confederated Villages of Lisjan Ohlone and Co-Founder of the Sogorea Te’ Land Trust (STLT).
