Co-creation of the future of Coaching

Swim England is consulting with coaches, participants, parents and clubs on a new strategy to be published later this year.

The Co-Creation of the Future of Coaching is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of aquatic coaching and your insights and experiences are crucial to this process.

It aims to redefine the purpose of coaching, highlighting best practices, and build a more supportive, inclusive and collaborative coaching culture.

We would encourage you all to take a few minutes to complete the survey as your feedback will help create better experiences for coaches, participants and clubs, ensuring people flourish and thrive in aquatics.

If you haven’t yet received an email with the survey by 15 February, or you have any questions around the new strategy, please email coaching@swimming.org

Welfare Officers

A reminder that all Welfare Officers must have completed SE Safeguarding, Time to Listen and have a valid DBS with barred list check before they undertake the role. Once in post, attendance at the SE Good Governance Welfare Officer Workshop is mandatory.

The names and contact details of the Welfare Officer(s) must be clearly communicated and publicised to all Members. This ensures that should anyone at the organisation have a concern they are clear on who they can refer that concern to.

The email address used by the Welfare Officer must not be a personal email account, and should be formatted in a way that references both the role of the welfare officer and the organisation. Only Welfare Officers should have access to this email account.

In order to ensure the Welfare Officer is independent it is mandatory that they are not related to, or in a close relationship with either the chair/owner/proprietor, or any other coach/swimming teacher of the organisation they are Welfare Officer at. This is to remove the potential for bias, or the perception of bias when handling any safeguarding or welfare concern and to give Members the confidence to report any concerns they have to the organisation.
