A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Maine East Families,

Semester Two is off to a great start!  Here are some important updates for you:

Attendance Notices - Coming Soon

We look forward to seeing and supporting your students each day.  Remember that the very best experience we can offer your students is when they are at school, on time, each day.  In order to best support our students’ daily attendance, we want to increase our partnership with you by providing you with a personalized monthly attendance letter, beginning next week.  You can expect an email from Maine East High School that will outline your student’s attendance rate and current performance in each class.  We are hoping that these messages will keep you informed and increase conversations at home about the importance of being present in each class to get the most out of the experience.   Thank you for your continued support!

Multilingual Parent Advisory Committee (MPAC)

We are in the process of scheduling all students for classes for the 2024-25 school year.  This is an especially important time for our multilingual learners as we have some course and program updates.  We would love to share more information about these updates at our next MPAC meeting.  ALL families of multilingual students are welcome!  Please join us on Tuesday, February 6th at 6:30 p.m. in the Maine East cafeteria.  We hope to see you there!

Park Ridge Community Event:  “Trends in Teen Drug Use - Say KNOW to Drugs”

This special event is open to all students and families in District 207.  Dr. Teri Collins, former executive director of the Maine Community Youth Assistance Foundation, and Kevin Ryan, School Resource Office for Maine East, will host an event on February 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Park Ridge Public Library.  Please join them to learn some very helpful information regarding current trends in teen drug use.

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend,

Dr. Pikul

IMPORTANT: PLEASE TAKE THE DISTRICT 207 TRANSPORTATION SURVEY

District 207 is looking into the potential of providing shuttles from designated locations to major PACE bus stops and/or busing directly to schools. We are asking ALL parents to take our 5-minute survey that will help us identify the needs of families. Even if you are not utilizing the bus, please complete the survey.

If you have not yet taken this survey, please take it today. The deadline to complete the survey is Sunday, January 28.

While there is no guarantee of additional services being provided, this survey will inform future decisions about transportation in District 207.
