A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Maine East Families,

On October 5th and October 6th Juniors will take the digital PSAT/NMSQT. This will allow 11th graders a chance to become more familiar with the digital testing format before taking the digital SAT in April. Juniors will receive an email with the date and room location of their exam. Juniors will be excused from classes on the day they are testing and most students will complete the exam in under 3 hours. Juniors should be in their testing locations by 8:15 a.m. 9th, 10th and 12th graders will follow a half day schedule starting at 8:30 a.m.

October 5th and October 6th are half days for students with a release time of 12:07 p.m. PACE buses have also adjusted their pick-up times.

On October 6th, ALL school offices will be closed at 12:30 p.m. for staff workshops and training.

Panorama Surveys for Students

In order to gather information to help us serve your children more effectively, we will be conducting some student surveys via a platform called Panorama. On October 4th, each of our schools will be inviting students to share their perceptions about topics such as our school culture and climate, and some of their own social emotional learning indicators, such as self-awareness and self-confidence (in the ability to complete learning activities successfully).

We will not share a student’s specific responses with teachers or families, but school staff may follow up with some students (based on their responses), and/or invite them to participate in additional focus groups or other feedback activities. The surveys that will be administered are:

Student Climate and Equity Survey and Student SEL Self Assessment
