A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Maine East Families,

Thank you to those of you who have completed the 5Essentials Survey so far. This is a reminder that the survey is open until March 29, 2024.

We need a response rate of at least 20% from parents or caregivers to receive a report with the results. As of today, we are at 4%. Over the next three weeks I hope we can generate enough responses to get to the 20% threshold. Thanks in advance for your support in helping us to improve in all aspects of school.

Here is the link to the survey: Illinois 5Essentials Survey

We appreciate your partnership; thank you very much!

March - Career Exploration

Zanain Sami

Zunain’s zest for learning is felt by his teachers and peers as well.

Mr. Przekota shared that, “He does a great job seeing things in different perspectives and I think this is why he does so well working with others.  He celebrates all of his peers' contributions to group work and respects their opinions and evaluations of the products he produces. Zunain brings great energy and enthusiasm everyday to class.  He definitely plays the role of “promoter” in his groups. All of his groups are filled with conversation and energy but still able to complete the tasks at hand.  I do not have to worry about who Zunain works with because he is so welcoming and is able to work well with all of his peers.”

DECA COMPETITION

The Maine East DECA team is returning to the national stage! Two of our students, Krishna Gandhi and Jahnavi Patel finished 2nd in the state in the overall category of Marketing Management Team Decision Making. We are heading to Anaheim in April.

Additionally, Ayush Soni and Jainam Patel and Muhil Jailawala finished in the top 10 in the state in Entrepreneurship Series and Project Management Financial Literacy Project respectively.

Stay tuned for more details after the national competition.

SOCIAL SCIENCE

Maine East sent 30 students to compete in the annual History Day event at UIC on Saturday, March 2nd. Every US History and AP US History student at Maine East has the opportunity to submit their research projects for this competition and these 30 students were selected by the Social Science Department and other staff. Good luck to these wonderful students as they wait to hear if their projects move on to the State level competition.
