From the Desk of Fr. Mike Nacius, Pastor - Bulletin March 18, 2018

This Sunday, at the 10:00am Mass, the RCIA program celebrates the third and final Scrutiny of the Lenten season, moving ever closer to the celebration of the initiation sacraments at the Easter Vigil. Please continue to keep in your prayers our parishioners and those preparing for the Easter sacraments across
our Archdiocese and throughout the world.

Thi s coming Thursday, March 22, you are invited to celebrate God's forgiving love in the Sacrament of Reconciliation at Holy Cross Parish in Deerfield at 7:00pm.

Next Sunday we celebrate the beginning of the holiest week of the year, with the celebration of Palm Sunday. Masses on Palm Sunday are different than Masses celebrated on any other Sunday throughout the liturgical year. You may be aware of the differences celebrated on Palm Sunday. On Palm Sunday there are two gospels that are read. On Palm Sunday the priest leads the people into church. On Palm Sunday there is no penitential rite. On Palm Sunday we raise palm branches high, recalling our Savior's triumphant entry into Jerusalem. On Palm Sunday we join in the reading of the Passion. Come pray with your fellow parishioners, with family and friends on Palm Sunday!

If you are going to be traveling and out of town may the church you attend for Masses and services be welcoming to you and other guests. May the parishioners of St. Mary's always be open to and welcome guests and visitors. I invite you to bring me a copy of the bulletin from the church you attend this Easter.

When we come to the table of the Lord, sharing in the Eucharist, the Church teaches that we are to receive the Body and Blood of our Lord at communion. We are in need of more Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, especially at the Sunday, 6:00pm Mass. We may not be able to offer the Blood of Christ at the 6:00pm Mass because of the lack of ministers to assist at the liturgy. Please contact me or Lore Nugent, our Pastoral Associate, if you would like to learn more about the opportunity to serve your parish as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

God be with you with a renewed heart this Lenten season.
