O God, the King of saints, we praise and glorify your holy Name for all your servants who have finished their course in your faith and fear: for the Ever-blessed Virgin Mary - Mother of God; for the holy matriarchs, patriarchs, prophets, apostles, and martyrs; for Clement, Absalom Martin, Don, Janice, and for all your other righteous servants, known to us and unknown; and we pray that, encouraged by their examples, aided by their prayers, and strengthened by their fellowship, we also may be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Almighty God, author of all mercies and giver of comfort: Deal graciously, we pray, with Tim, Esther and their families and friends and all who mourn; that, casting all their care on you, they may know the consolation of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Holy Mary, Mother of God and all the Saints,

pray for Don and Janice.

May the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace,

and may light perpetual

shine upon them.

Amen.

"I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness."

We are frequently overwhelmed by the events of both our communal and personal lives and the temptation to ask, "How did I/we get into this hand basket???" even in the midst of our Easter Joy. As the writer of Ecclesiastes says, "There is nothing new under the sun." Life is a mixed bag of sorrow and joy - as in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. And while we cannot change these things, we can "believe" and not remain in darkness; we can change our perspective by looking through the eyes of Our Lord so that we are not overwhelmed by the darkness but rather dwell in the light as the darkness surrounds us - both singular and plural.

Life happens and is happening. We may have control or influence over some of what is happening but most things are out of our control. And trying to control them pulls us back into the darkness. Seeing through Our Lord's eyes - and not denying the whirlwind around us - we live in the light of eternal life which proclaims that no matter what happens, nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus; that we have set upon the road of eternal life on this plain and will continue it in the next. This is not to say that our events are by any means trivial. They are anything but. But it is to say that even in the midst of our own events, the Light still shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome it (John 1)

We continue to walk together in the Light filled with joy, hope and peace.

Alleluia! Christ is Risen!

The Lord is Risen indeed! Alleluia!
