Easter Sunday | Apr 4, 2021
Deacon Matt Newsome, campus minister

This Sunday we celebrate with joy the Resurrection of our Lord. Being a year into a global pandemic on top of all the usual stress that goes along with being a college student at the end of the semester, we may find it difficult to feel joyful. But joy is not a mere feeling that can come and go. It is the peace that comes from the knowledge of our salvation in Christ Jesus. And here the Church gives us the model of St. Mary Magdalene in the gospel for Easter Sunday, who remained close to Christ even in the midst of fear and darkness, and became the first witness of the Resurrection.

A reminder that there is no Mass on campus Easter Sunday. Students remaining in Cullowhee over break are encouraged to participate in the Easter celebrations at St. Mary's. You can find the parish Easter schedule by clicking here.

May you experience the joy of Christ's resurrection in your heart this Easter.

In Christ,
Deacon Matt
