Easter Sunday 2020
He is risen! Alleluia!

Blessed Easter to all of you.

While we very much grieve that we are not able to be in worship together this morning, we know that we are together in spirit.

Thanks for gathering with us for worship this morning. May it bless you and remind you of God's resurrecting love with you wherever you are.

With Easter hope,
Pastor Sarah and Deacon Heather

Worship Outline

Call to worship – Pastor Sarah and Deacon Heather
On the first day of the week…“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.”

L: The Resurrection didn’t happen in the light of day;
A: It happened in the dark, before the sun had risen, on a hill, in a garbage dump.

L: The Resurrection didn’t fulfill peoples’ expectations, not even those closest to Jesus;
A: It shocked people out of human logic and complacency.

L: The Resurrection didn’t just happen to Jesus;
A: it happens to us whenever the power of God breaks through in our lives.

L: In the midst of darkness,
A: Christ is risen.

L: In the midst of uncertainty,
A: Christ is risen.

L: In the midst of doubt,
A: Christ is risen.

L: In the midst of fear,
A: Christ is risen.

Today, on Easter Sunday, we claim the good news for us and for all people:
Death has no power, sin has lost its grip,
God opens the tombs of our hearts to fill us with life – resurrection life.

Siblings in Christ, let us proclaim it from our living rooms, from our kitchens, from our workplaces, from our cars, from our hospital rooms, from wherever we find ourselves in this moment:

Christ is risen! Christ is risen, indeed.
Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Apostles’ Creed – led by Pr. Jean Duran

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God
the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
