Eastern
Market Classic: Marsha Brooks
Marsha Brooks at her stand at Eastern
Market
 |
Marsha
Brooks came to Eastern Market in 1986 initially to
help her uncle Charles Davis with his stand
of vintage clothing. For years Ms. Brooks would
greet you inside Market 5 Gallery now the North Hall on Sundays
with her tempting display of vintage clothes, purses, hats, scarves
and gloves. Ten years ago she started dying old gloves, and slips
to give them a new life. Now these are some of her signature "new
look" vintage pieces. Customers wear these light weight fun slips
as dresses in the Washington, D.C. humidity.

Ms. Brooks has branded each sale with her
wonderful recycled bags. Marsha Brooks's vintage clothing at
Eastern Market is class and classic.

THE HELL RAISER
SAYS...
Thank you, Mayor Fenty for your responsiveness and
leadership after the devastating Fire that destroyed most of the
Eastern Market structure. Thank you, also, for making Eastern
Market (the building) a new national monument in the Nations
Capital.
Chairman Gray and soon to be Mayor Gray, it was
heartening seeing, meeting and speaking with you at Eastern Market.
You listened and your office through your special assistant Ms.
Stephanie G. Reich was quick and upbeat in response. In future, one
hopes to see you and all the City Council members regularly "round
the market gettin' ya'll's shop on" and at a ribbon cutting for
John Harrod Hall at Eastern Market. Mr. Harrod, like yourself,
Chairman Gray, was a man of the people. It is the people that make
this community, neighborhood, city, nation and world
great.
