UPDATE ON FOAM-FREE LUNCH TRAYS
The BOE resolved last month to eliminate Styrofoam trays from the school cafeterias. The use of dishwashers and reusable trays will be piloted at New Lebanon School next year. The Green Schools Committee will gather data on this pilot program as well as compile results on the waste reduction programs at Eastern Middle School and North Mianus to present a case for district-wide reusable trays this fall or another equally suitable alternative.
Parent advocacy was key to getting us this far. Please continue to support a reusable food ware system for the 2019-202 school year. It's the most responsible solution for our children's health, our environment and the budget. For more information on a foam-free lunch, you can read the Food Service Committee's update to the Board of Education by following this link. Questions? Email PTAC.
Shop on Amazon and support the PTA! Through AmazonSmile, Amazon will donate 0.5% of price of eligible items to EMS PTA. Please see
here
for more details.

The SCA is continuing to collect box tops this year. Box tops for education can be found on many forms of household goods, including cereal, granola bars, fruit snacks, paper goods, and many more items. Cut out the boxtops and send them into AB. The SCA is planning on using money raised through box tops to buy supplies for a school in need. Please help us to make a great donation by collecting box tops at home!
