Coronavirus Update #19

I plan to publish an update video each week until we get the 'all clear'. Hopefully this won't be too much longer.
Mass Reopening Plan - Phase 3, Week 3 - New Rules
Responding to what the Governor is seeing across the country, he has expanded the 14 day quarantine rules, now including a $500/day fine for non-compliance, effective August 1st. Folks coming into the state from NY, NJ, other New England state, and Hawaii (really?) are OK. All others will need to quarantine themselves for 14 days, or until they test negative for the virus. They will need to sign a form stating that they will self-quarantine and they are aware of a $500/day fine. Two links....

Eastham had 2 new cases of COVID-19 this week (up 2, and breaking a many week Zero-streak). All of Cape Cod has only had 1693 cases, up 71 from last week. Cape Cod Hospital has 0 (zero) COVID patients.
The Eastham Chamber of Commerce published an email blast on Phase 3 - Here is the link that provides the details for Phase 3.
Below is Gov Baker's chart, redrawn (again) so we can track our progress. I'll try to maintain this chart so that the key dates remain front and center. The Governor has said that Phase 3 will be 'substantially' longer than the prior phases. Ugh. I'm hoping that we get to Phase 4 before Labor Day. Also, I've been wondering what the 'New Normal' is going to look like. The chart below is my tracking of our progress . Check out the full list at 'Reopening Massachusetts'.

Did You Know?
Did you know that, at one time, Eastham had an airport? Indeed, there was an airport in the area behind where the Fairway Restaurant and the Seatoller Plaza (Ace Hardware) currently sit. The street named Runway Lane was named such because that area was the runway. Check out this article in the Cape Codder for more fun facts about our one-time airport.
