Thursday, March 30, is Major League Baseball’s much anticipated Opening Day! I grew up in Eastern Ohio watching the Pittsburgh Pirates. Willie Stargill, Dave Parker, and Kent Tekulve were the big names. Later after college I moved to Baseball Town, USA - Cincinnati, Ohio - where Opening Day is not just a day but a city-wide event. For people in these cities, baseball is serious business. Baseball is history. The Cincinnati Redstockings were the first professional baseball club. Pittsburgh boasts one of the greatest players of all time, Roberto Clemente. Baseball is tradition. Opening Day in Cincinnati always starts with the famous Findlay Market Opening Day Parade. Baseball is… well it’s “as American as apple pie.”

Passion Fuels Second Generation Ag Student’s Promising Future |

Haven Greeler has known from the time he was seven years old what he wanted to do with his life. That summer, he helped his dad dig a pond on their family farm and was immediately drawn to the excitement, precision and focus needed to operate and work with heavy equipment.
Haven is sitting, hands clasped, on the bucket of a tow motor. When he became eligible to attend Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools, the decision was an easy one. It didn’t hurt that his father was a student in the same program — Agriculture & Heavy Equipment — more than 20 years ago.

Sixteen Culinary Students Qualify for FCCLA States |
|
The 2023 FCCLA regional competitions have been completed and students from the Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools Culinary Arts program represented well. Sixteen EFCTS students have advanced to the FCCLA state competition, which will be held on April 23.
State qualifiers in Culinary events will prepare to compete on April 22 at Columbus State Community College. Those engaging in Career Development events will compete April 27-28 during the state leadership conference at the Ohio Expo Center.
Three Eastland-Fairfield students stood out among others after qualifying for the state competition in multiple events. Amarra Haines, Brittany Tolentino Galvin, and Brooklyn Daye advanced to FCCLA states in two different events.

Marketing & Logistics Students are Heading to DECA International Conference |
|
Four students from the Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools Marketing & Logistics Management satellite program will be heading to Orlando, Fla. to compete at the DECA International Conference this April. The DECA state conference was held on March 10-11 at the Hyatt Regency Columbus, where nearly a dozen students represented Eastland-Fairfield and the Marketing & Logistics satellite program. Of those competing in individual events, senior Richie Saelim (Groveport Madison) emerged as the top placer after taking fourth place in the Principles of Finance category. He will advance to the DECA International Conference.

FCC Celebrates Prom with "A Night in Vegas"!

There are two things many students look forward to coming into spring. Better weather, and prom! Fairfield Career Center students enjoyed their prom in mid-March by transforming their campus into a carbon copy of the Las Vegas strip during their "A Night in Vegas" themed evening! They rolled out the red carpets, brought out fun games of chance, welcomed a portable ice cream parlor, built out picture-taking stations, and - of course - swarmed the dance floor during an evening of extravagance and entertainment.
Congratulations to our prom king, David Sells (Sr., Construction, Groveport Madison) and queen, E'Shaunti Barnett (Sr., Pre-Dental, Reynoldsburg), on being named prom royalty!

Eastland-Fairfield is committed to preparing our students for their futures, be we also love to celebrate them in the present. Prom is a timeless tradition for high school juniors and seniors, and it was wonderful to see the smiles, laughs, and dance moves that came out that evening. Thank you to all who attended and were part of making FCC's prom happen! |

Parent/Guardian Information Night |
We invite new students and families to join us for our Parent/Guardian Information Nights.
April 18 - Fairfield Career Center, 6:30 p.m.
April 20 - Eastland Career Center, 6:30 p.m.
Topics will include information regarding becoming an Eastland-Fairfield student, specifics of the campus you are attending, and a Q&A for your questions. * Students in satellite programs will have their own information night with details provided to you, separately.

Now that the weather is warming up, it's time for your seasonal reminder about the Spring Bazaar coming to FCC on May 6. Shop local artisans for arts, crafts, and unique goods, and grab a bite at our visiting food trucks, too! Spaces are still available for interested vendors, as well.

Think about your last trip to the doctor's office. Who registered you for your appointment, welcomed you then checked you in upon arrival, and took your vitals to prepare you for the doctor? Did you need blood drawn? It was a medical assistant.
From the front end of the doctor's office all the way to the back of the house, medical assistants are trained to be the most versatile member of the medical staff. Students are currently learning how to receive patients, collect important and confidential patient information, basic nutrition, lab procedures, and phlebotomy. Our adult Medical Assisting program prepares you to become a Jack or Jill of many trades in a variety of medical settings.
In less than 9 months, the Medical Assisting program will prepare students to be ready for nearly anything! And, you can take your certifications anywhere you go. This program is suited for the person who wants to shift their focus in the medical field, completely change career course, or is seeking direction within an in-demand industry. With or without healthcare experience, the adult Medical Assisting program will prepare you, in all ways, for your next professional steps.
