Animal Management Students Vie for Fairfield County Junior Fair Queen
Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools, the Animal Management program, and the Fairfield Career Center FFA chapter are proud to announce that two of its own have been named finalists for the honor to be named Fairfield County Junior Fair Queen. Emma Gray (New Albany) and Danielle Burch (Bloom Carroll) are among 10 area teens who will find out who will be named Junior Fair Queen at the Fairfield County Fair on Saturday, October 7.

The Junior Fair Queen competition is a tradition at the fair that considers and evaluates candidates based on a variety of factors including 4 H and FFA (Future Farmers of America) activities, school and community events, and poise.

Emma and Danielle are both juniors at Fairfield Career Center (FCC) and enrolled in the Animal Management program. They are both members of the FCC FFA chapter, though they had very different paths to get there.
BPA Collects 60+ Pounds of Pop Tabs for Ronald McDonald House
The first year of the Pop Tab Challenge at Eastland Career Center was a resounding success! The Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter at ECC hosted a campus-wide competition that challenged staff and students to collect pop can tabs that would be donated to the Ronald McDonald House's Pull Tab Initiative. The effort helps financially support the Ronald McDonald House and the families that use its services.

ECC's competition was broken down by program lab and the winner of the inaugural contest was the students in Aviation! They collected 20.76 pounds of pop tabs over the course of one month and earned a class with cupcakes as their prize.

Together, the Eastland campus donated more than 60 pounds of pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House, which is estimated to produce more than 60,0000 tabs, in total! Well done to all of our students and staff who participated and are helping to make a difference.

Pictured: BPA officers Brooke Childers (Secretary), Jerry Saunders (President), Xander Mooney (Treasurer) are ready to donate more than 60 pounds of pop tabs!
EFCTS is Proud to Support Local Youth Football
For the second year in a row, Fairfield Career Center has served as the home of the Bloom Carroll Youth Football Association, a local youth football league dedicated to developing the next generation of football players and supporting youth cheerleading. Elementary school-aged children strapped on the pads and grabbed the pom poms for another season, but this time the space used for practices was fitted for gameday!

Fairfield Career Center hosted the first season of games for the BC Youth Football Association where families gathered to watch Bulldog players and cheerleaders in action on Saturday mornings. We're thrilled to be such great partners with the community and wish everyone the best of luck as they enter playoff season!

Quick Drop-Ins
There was so much happening in and around Eastland-Fairfield we couldn't just pick one lab to feature! Take a peek at some of the cool things happening at our high school and satellite campuses over the past two weeks.
Our Teaching Professions students are learning about teaching 6th-grade students from Corrine Evans of Engage Ohio.
How many students can fit in the bucket of an excavator? Our Ag & Heavy Equipment students found out on a recent field trip to Columbus Equipment Company.
Mrs. Maskulinski's students in the Senior STNA program visited the Arbors at Carroll nursing facility during their lab. The students assisted the residents with lunch, passed out fresh water, and engaged with the residents.
Our Animal Management students held a dog show competition and needed judges for their projects. Our adult Medical Assisting and Dental Assisting students answered the call to evaluate the students' work, gladly.
Continuing the theme of working together, our Construction students showed students in an Algebra II class at FCC how to use slope in a practical sense. It's great when what we learn in class can be applied to the real-world!
