Hi Neighbors,
As we welcome the start of fall, our community is gearing up for an exciting season filled with events that bring us together.
The Fall Family Festival is just around the corner. Join me at Lake Cunningham on October 26th from 10am-2pm for a pumpkin patch, trick-or-treating, resources, and activities everyone can enjoy!
With cooler weather approaching, cold and flu season is not far behind. Taking proactive steps to protect ourselves and our loved ones is important.
Which is why I am excited to invite you to take charge of your health and attend the Binational Health Week Kickoff at the Eastridge Center on Saturday, October 5th!
As part of the celebration, visit our table at the resource fair from 10am-2pm to receive a resource passport; fill it out and win a prize! Bring a friend, and join us for a refreshing walk to promote wellness and build a stronger, healthier community together.
Best,

Recognizing our Neighborhood Leaders!
One of my favorite aspects of our City Council meetings is the
opportunity to recognize the incredible individuals who
strive to make our city a better place to live.
It was a pleasure to present two recognitions this month: Michael Gabler, President of the Norwood Neighborhood Association, and the
Evergreen Leadership Neighborhood Association! Thank you for your dedication and hard work toward building a stronger District 8!

District 8 Dumpster Day
Another dumpster day in the books!
I got my workout in that day, the cart was heavier than it looked.
This month, we were in the Meadowlands and the Ranch neighborhoods, where we filled a total of 8 bins!

Investing in the Wellbeing of East San Jose Students
I am thrilled to celebrate three new student mental wellness centers in the Evergreen School District, dedicated to supporting our young people.
Mental wellness is a crucial aspect of education and overall student success and our goal is to create an environment that fosters resilience, promotes emotional health, and empowers students to navigate their challenges.
Shoutout to Supervisor Sylvia Arenas for initiating and prioritizing this effort during her time as Councilmember.

Addressing Encampment Concerns in our Neighborhoods
Over the last few weeks, I worked with residents to bring supportive services and city departmental staff to the encampment at a neighborhood park on Aborn Rd & S King Rd. I am happy to report that the area was cleaned up and the individuals were provided information on available services to help get off the streets and into adequate shelter.
A big thank you to the neighbors for your patience and continuing to report these issues to homeless concerns, as well as my office. Your efforts and collaboration have made a real difference. Although there is much work ahead, I’m committed to continuing to work together to keep our streets clean and welcoming for all!
