TeamSnap
If you have registered or signed the waiver, please make sure you've downloaded TeamSnap. This platform is where we communicate most often – from practice times to match schedules, player availability and maps to key locations, TeamSnap is our go-to for all hot news and information, including a copy of this e-mail.
**Note** If your player is changing age groups (I.e., moving from U14 to High School), please ensure you're receiving updates from your player’s new age group. In some cases, new invitations to TeamSnap may have been sent for the new age group (please check your spam e-mail), and therefore, if you are not receiving updates from TeamSnap, please contact Kandace Barton, kbbarton1@gmail.com, to resolve.
Salmon Days Grand Parade (October 7th)
Please join us for the upcoming Issaquah Salmon Days Grand Parade next Saturday, October 7th, where we will demonstrate our Eastside Lions spirit to the local community. This event is a fantastic way to raise awareness for youth rugby in the area, to promote our club and recruit new players. It is also a fantastic way to spend time with our Lions family at a fun and festive event!
**Note** Lions athletes with school-based service hour requirements may use this event as a qualified volunteer activity.
Participation is easy! Arrive at 9:00 am at the Issaquah High School parking lot, 700 2nd Ave SE, Issaquah, WA 98027. Athletes should come dressed in black shorts and socks, but please note we will bring Lions jerseys for them to wear during the parade. Families, parents, and caregivers wear your Lions gear, too!! Make sure to update your TeamSnap availability so that we can get a headcount of attendees.
Recruiting
Recruiting continues to be a high priority for the club, and we're actively looking to attend back-to-school nights, parades, and community days to promote the club and attract new players. Word of mouth from current players continues to be our most valuable recruiting asset, so bring a friend to the free Sunday clinics! The club’s refreshed recruiting signs are now available, and Paul Mitsuyama and Kumiko Arai have volunteered to help with distribution coordination. Look for Kumiko and Paul at upcoming Sunday clinics to get your signs. And please reach out to Ericka Calvert (social@eastsidelionsrugby.com) for more information regarding recruiting volunteer opportunities or if you have ideas for the club to drive awareness among local communities.
New Eastside Lion Club Admin
We are pleased to share that Erin Lolohea has accepted the position of Club Administrator. Erin’s presence will be one of organization and no doubt, her experiences as a mom to a Lions athlete as well as the wife of a Lions coach, will bring ideas and rigor to activities. We are thrilled to have her – welcome Erin!
2024 Sponsorship and Fundraising Opportunities
In addition to membership fees, the club relies on donations and sponsorships to support our financial endeavors. All donations to the club are tax deductible because we are a 501 (c) 3 organization. Financial contributions provide unique sponsorship opportunities for individuals and businesses when supporting the Lions including branded kit, tours and travel. For direct donations, please visit www.eastsidelionsrugby.com/donate or if you are interested in sponsoring a player contact our Debbie Chambers, Lions Board Treasurer at treasurer@eastsidelionsrugby.com or club president, Loren Barton president@eastsidelionsrugby.com, for opportunities and further information.
Girls Fall 7s rugby
Several of our Eastside Lions have spent the fall participating in the girls fall 7’s season alongside members from the Panthers. Combined, these fantastic young women launched the inaugural Eastside Bobcats Rugby Club, with our very own Coach Eric and Coach Jen leading the charge.
