Eastview STEAM Learning
Throughout the year, 5th graders have been mastering their coding skills.
On Friday, March 1, 5th graders from Eastview Elementary and Star Center Elementary
joined together to take their coding skills to the next level. Nice job, STEAM Team!

PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY MESSAGE !
ALL visitors to Eastview, including parents, MUST check-in at the Office and get a Yellow tag so that all school personnel will recognize they are in the building with approval. This is for the safety and security of all children and staff.

If you are going to be volunteering at Eastview, whether for field trips, PTO events, or classroom help (and we thank you for that!) the District Administration requires a background check to be processed. Forms are available on-line or you may call the Eastview Office to request one. Please note that the District Office needs 2 weeks to process each form, so please plan accordingly.
Background checks are good for 3 years, so if you are unsure of whether you are still approved, you may call Eastview at 262-348-6000.
Thank you for your understanding and consideration.
SPIRIT WEEK FUN!
We all enjoyed showing our school spirit as we dressed in school colors, in formalwear, as student-teacher opposites, or in crazy
mis-matched clothes! A great way to have some fun before we head into Spring break!
IMPORTANT DATES!
"FORWARD" TESTING WILL BE CONDUCTED

The Wisconsin Forward assessments measure the knowledge and skills your student(s) should have acquired by the time they reach each grade level. Their performance on the assessment will not affect any of their current grades. Please encourage your son or daughter to take the test seriously and do the best they can. The results of these tests will be used to help school staff make determinations regarding placement in classes to best support your child(ren).

If you have any questions, please contact Principal Tami Martin at 262-348-6050 and tami.martin@badger.k12.wi.us

ALL students will need their headphones for testing at school!

About those cell phones....

Please remember that bringing cell phones to school is strongly discouraged. If a student chooses to bring one, it must remain off and in their backpack during the school day. We do not have lockers to keep them secure. Parents can always relay messages from home by calling the office, and we will be sure your student receives them!

LIVING RESPONSIBLY IN THE DIGITAL AGE

We are all very much aware of the impact that social media is having on our world, and especially on our children. Not only do dangers lurk on the web, but so do opportunities for bullying and anti-social behavior.

Practicing good digital citizenship is essential to being a responsible member of the online community. Click on the link below for a helpful review of many of the websites and digital apps that are popular with young people.
Congratulations to our Box Tops Contest winners for February - way to go
Mrs. Nor's class!
Keep those Box Tops coming, Eastview! #GaGaBall
Our 4th Graders recently enjoyed a wonderful field trip to our State Capitol in Madison! They toured the beautiful Capitol building, met with some of our government representatives, and visited the Wisconsin Historical Museum. It was a great day!
POVERTY SIMULATION
Walk in someone else’s shoes. Can you make it “one month” with little to no income?
Our Poverty Simulation is not a game. It’s an exercise that will challenge you to make it through various scenarios and situations that real people and families in poverty face every day. Will you go hungry in order to keep the lights and heat on? What will you do when the landlord issues you an eviction notice? Will you sell your possessions to make ends meet? Work through these scenarios and many others. Join us and develop a better sense of empathy, and respect for those in our community who face financial challenges.
Every 15 minutes lasts “one week” in the poverty simulation. Afterward, we’ll have time for follow up discussion among the group of 80 participants.
WHEN: Saturday, April 27 9am - Noon
WHERE: Immanuel Lutheran Church(700 N Bloomfield Road, Lake Geneva, WI)
Questions: amanda.kostman@wisc.edu or call 262-741-4951

It was a great season for these athletes.

PARKING LOT SAFETY REMINDERS

We take seriously our commitment to providing a safe environment for our students at school. This includes the parking lot. Drop-Off and Pick-Up are busy times!
PLEASE REMEMBER: There are 3 SINGLE FILE Drop-Off and Pick-Up lanes, with crosswalks boldly marked with yellow stripes. ALL students are to cross there. If a parent chooses to park elsewhere at Drop-Off, then the student needs to be walked by the parent to a crossing island, where a school employee can safely guide them to the school grounds. The same is true in reverse at Pick-Up. We cannot have students running to cars that are not in a Pick-Up lane. There are too many vehicles coming and going.

Please join us in keeping our precious students safe!
