Eagles Don't Just Fly, We S.O.A.R!

This month, we reviewed our Eagle expectations everyday on the announcements and in morning meetings. One area we spent a lot of time reviewing was digital citizenship. Please spend some time this month and review internet safety and etiquette with your student.

Students in grades 3-8 participated in a project sponsored by the Southern Lakes Advanced Learners Network called the Southern Lakes Anthology . Students were asked to produce a written or art piece related to the theme, "Not Always Black and White." 30 pieces were selected to be part of our Lake Geneva District Anthology booklets. Congratulations to these Eastview students, whose submissions have been chosen this year! We are proud of you!
We are especially proud of these Eastview stars, whose works in Illustrated Writing and Prose, respectively, were two of eight pieces chosen to be included in the Southern Lakes Anthology book. Very well done!
They will move on to compete at the District
4th-8th Grade Spelling Bee. Eagle Proud!

We are all very much aware of the impact that social media is having on our world, and especially on our children. Not only do dangers lurk on the web, but so do opportunities for bullying and anti-social behavior.

Practicing good digital citizenship is essential to being a responsible member of the online community. Click on the link below for a helpful review of many of the websites and digital apps that are popular with young people.

R.E.A.D.S. Mentor Program
Would you, or someone you know, be willing to volunteer one half hour a week to read with a child? Our R.E.A.D.S. program is Tuesday-Thursday from 8:00-8:30 AM at Eastview. Parents and grandparents are always welcome!

About those cell phones....

Please remember that bringing cell phones to school is strongly discouraged. If a student chooses to bring one, it must remain off and in their backpack during the school day. We do not have lockers to keep them secure. Parents can always relay messages from home by calling the office, and we will be sure your student receives them!

We take seriously our commitment to providing a safe environment for our students at school. This includes the parking lot. Drop-Off and Pick-Up are busy times!
PLEASE REMEMBER: There are 3 SINGLE FILE Drop-Off and Pick-Up lanes, with crosswalks boldly marked with yellow stripes. ALL students are to cross there. If a parent chooses to park elsewhere at Drop-Off, then the student needs to be walked by the parent to a crossing island, where a school employee can safely guide them to the school grounds. The same is true in reverse at Pick-Up. We cannot have students running to cars that are not in a Pick-Up lane. There are too many vehicles coming and going.

Please join us in keeping our precious students safe!
