Dear Eastview Family and Friends,

I hope that everyone enjoyed a wonderful Winter break, and that our students and staff are returning rested and refreshed as we head into a new year!

As we return to Eastview in January, our school will be taking part in a shared reading event. On December 18th, each student received a copy of the same book, Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo, as a gift to them from our school. Over the month of January, our entire school will be reading this book together daily. Each day, students will be engaged in read aloud activities, classroom discussions, writing projects, and trivia questions. It will be a wonderful way to share literature, as a school, and create excitement and enjoyment around reading. We are also hoping to do a community service project centered around some of the themes in the book. If you would like, I encourage you to read along with us! This might create some fun conversations at home and really make that home-school connection even stronger.

Additionally, we will again be starting our Lighted-School House activities the week of January 18th. Please look for the course guide that will be sent home with students when we return the week of January 4th. For our Leader of the Pack Award in January, we will be focusing on the trait of effective Problem-Solving. We will be looking for students who are able to effectively communicate, analyze, listen respectfully, make decisions, and work together with others to solve problems. We will honor our winners at the end of the month.

Lastly, January 22nd will mark the end of the second quarter for school. Report cards will be sent home with students on January 29th. Our PBIS Committee will again be hosting an Eagle Earnings Auction for students, giving them the opportunity to spend the Eagle Earnings they have gained over the last quarter of school for demonstrating outstanding character. It is a great way to celebrate the many successes of our students over the last quarter of school.

Thank you again for your continued support as we kick off the new year together and head into 2021!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Erin Zigler

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

All of our students received a personalized mug to enjoy a warm winter beverage while they read their new book, Because of Winn Dixie. Thanks to our PTA for their generous gift of the mugs, and to our own Mrs. Jenny McGreevy for hand-lettering each and every one! Additional thanks to Jan Eckola, our District Curriculum Director, for securing the funding for the books. Our students were blessed by their efforts!

A GOOD WORK ETHIC at school!

FOR GOOD HEALTH,
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT FACE MASKS ARE WASHED REGULARLY, AND THAT EACH MASK IS USED ONLY
FOR ONE DAY!

Don't forget about the Daily
At-Home Health Check!

Please complete it daily prior to sending your student to school. It is vital to ask the questions on the checklist each and every day to prevent the possibility of exposing other students or staff. This checklist is to be reviewed at home daily, on the honor system. It is not required to be handed into the school. Thank you!

IMPORTANT!
Please add Eastview's phone number to your phone's contacts list, so you will know it is your child's school calling. Thank you!

FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH AT SCHOOL
The Lake Geneva School District has received an extension for the Federal Summer Food Service Program. Lake Geneva Schools students are eligible for one FREE breakfast and one FREE lunch daily for the entire 2020-2021 school year. We encourage each student to take advantage of our nutritious meals at no cost. This will require no action on your part, just show up! Additional meals, milk, or a la carte purchases will be debited from your student's account. If your family has already paid toward your lunch balance we ask that you please leave the balance for future use. Thank you.

Please note that the elementary milk break is not included in the waiver, because it is a state program. The cost for milk break is $50 per year unless a free and reduced application is returned and approved.

New virtual students that would like to pick-up meals please contact Donna Ecklund at 262-348-1015.
