Parenting the SnapChat Generation
Thank you to all who attended this parent workshop on Thursday evening. During the school day, our assembly speaker, Jerry Akerman, spoke to the students about online behavior and social media. Please take some time to discuss this with your child, and use the opportunity to discuss your family rules and expectations. Key points of his talk were:
  1.  Anything we put online never goes away, and can be visible to many people.
  2. Apps we use will often share our personal information.
  3. Some people are not who they say they are online.  Never friend someone you don’t actually know.
  4. How do you handle conflict and disagreements? What is bullying?
  5. Treat others how you want to be treated.  Look at the inside of a person, don’t judge the outside.
  6. Be someone others want to follow.

OH BOY, DID IT SNOW! And as a result, our District Calendar has been revised to make up those days. Please note the following changes to Eastview's Academic Calendar for the remainder of 2019:

*Thursday, March 14 will be a FULL DAY (No early release)
*Thursday, April 11 will be a FULL DAY (No early release)
*Thursday, May 9 will be a FULL DAY (No early release)
*Monday, April 22 we will be
IN SCHOOL (formerly a day off)

Just a reminder : Students may be dropped off at 8:15 AM, not before. If you require before-school care, may we suggest YBase? Operated by the Lake Geneva YMCA, it provides safe, convenient care for your children before and after school.
Lake Geneva Schools Opens
Two Charter Schools!
Lake Geneva Schools announces the opening of two charter schools for the 2019 - 2020 school year, Maple Park Charter School (4K – 8th Grade) and New Visions Charter School (9th Grade – 12th Grade). The new schools will provide a new and unique learning environment for students.

“Lake Geneva Schools is committed to supporting quality education programs. A community need has arisen for a blended learning approach that will challenge students to reach their full potential. As a result, the Lake Geneva Joint #1 School District and Lake Geneva-Genoa City Union (Badger) High School District joined with the Maple Park Charter School Governance Board and the New Visions Governance Board to create a new and unique learning environment for students,” stated Dr. Jim Gottinger, Superintendent of Lake Geneva Schools.

Dr. Gottinger went on to say, “The addition of Maple Park and New Visions Charter Schools aligns with our mission of Honoring the unique talents of all, WE, the Lake Geneva Area Schools, families and communities, commit to providing every student with an excellent education that ensures the development of responsible, respectful citizens and inspires life-long learning. These Charter Schools allow us to provide a new and unique learning opportunity for students and families that are looking for an education that does not align with our traditional schools.”
ALL visitors to Eastview, including parents, MUST check-in at the Office and get a Yellow tag so that all school personnel will recognize they are in the building with approval. This is for the safety and security of all children and staff.

If you are going to be volunteering at Eastview, whether for field trips, PTO events, or classroom help (and we thank you for that!) the District Administration requires a background check to be processed. Forms are available on-line or you may call the Eastview Office to request one. Please note that the District Office needs 2 weeks to process each form, so please plan accordingly.
Background checks are good for 3 years, so if you are unsure of whether you are still approved, you may call Eastview at 262-348-6000.
Thank you for your understanding and consideration.

It is very important that your child be in attendance and to school on time, well-rested and with a good breakfast in his/her stomach!

If possible, please do not schedule any appointments for your child on their test dates.

ALL students will need their headphones at school!

About those cell phones....

Please remember that bringing cell phones to school is strongly discouraged. If a student chooses to bring one, it must remain off and in their backpack during the school day. We do not have lockers to keep them secure. Parents can always relay messages from home by calling the office, and we will be sure your student receives them!
We are all very much aware of the impact that social media is having on our world, and especially on our children. Not only do dangers lurk on the web, but so do opportunities for bullying and anti-social behavior.

Practicing good digital citizenship is essential to being a responsible member of the online community. Click on the link below for a helpful review of many of the websites and digital apps that are popular with young people.
P lease be sure your student has his/her headphones at school. If you still need a pair, we have some available for purchase in the School Office, for $5.00

Congratulations to our Box Top Contest winners for January - way to go Mrs. Turk's class! Keep those Box Tops coming, Eastview! #GaGaBall

Open Enrollment
Do you have friends and/or family members who are trying to figure out where to send their child(ren) for the
2019 - 2020 school year?
If so, please let them know that the Public School Open Enrollment Application Period
for the 2019-2020 School Year is
February 4 - April 30, 2019.
We'd love to show them why Lake Geneva Schools are perfect for their student(s)!
Please have them call (262) 348-1000 for more information or to schedule a tour.
Our 5th Graders recently enjoyed a wonderful field trip to DISCOVERY WORLD in Milwaukee! Some of the fun included splashing around in the Aquarium, a very cool step into Virtual Reality, and the opportunity to design our own pencil case. So many amazing things to see and do!

We take seriously our commitment to providing a safe environment for our students at school. This includes the parking lot. Drop-Off and Pick-Up are busy times!
PLEASE REMEMBER: There are 3 SINGLE FILE Drop-Off and Pick-Up lanes, with crosswalks boldly marked with yellow stripes. ALL students are to cross there. If a parent chooses to park elsewhere at Drop-Off, then the student needs to be walked by the parent to a crossing island, where a school employee can safely guide them to the school grounds. The same is true in reverse at Pick-Up. We cannot have students running to cars that are not in a Pick-Up lane. There are too many vehicles coming and going.

Please join us in keeping our precious students safe!

Taking a Vacation Soon??

If your student is going to be gone for 3 or more consecutive days for a planned vacation, surgery, etc., we require that a Planned Absence Form be completed prior to your student's absence. You can obtain
a form from the Eastview Office, or call us at
262-348-6000 to have one sent home. Thank you!
