Eastview Elementary School Times

Dear Eastview Family and Friends,

As we return to Eastview in January, our school will be taking part in a shared reading event.  On December 22nd, each student received a copy of the same book, Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt, as a gift to them from our school.  Over the month of January, our entire school will be reading this book together daily.  Each day, students will be engaged in read aloud activities, classroom discussions, writing projects, and trivia questions.  It will be a wonderful way to share literature, as a school, and create excitement and enjoyment around reading.  If you would like, I encourage you to read along with us!  This might create some fun conversations at home and really make that home-school connection even stronger.

Additionally, in January, we will again be starting our Lighted-School House activities the week of January 16th.  Please look for the course guide that will be sent home with students when we return the week of January 3rd.  For our Leader of the Pack Award in January, we will be focusing on the trait of Problem Solving.  We will be looking for students who are able to effectively solve problems and model that process to peers.  We will honor our winners at the end of the month.

Lastly, January 20th will mark the end of the second quarter for school.  Report cards will be sent home with students on Friday, January 27th.  Our PBIS Committee will again be hosting an Eagle Earnings Auction for students, giving them the opportunity to spend the Eagle Earnings they have gained over the last quarter of school for demonstrating outstanding character.  It is a great way to celebrate the many successes of our students over the last quarter of school.

Thank you again for your continued support as we kick off the new year together and head into 2023!  Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Erin Zigler

Notes from your school librarian...

Stay Warm and Read!

Use the booklists on the Destiny Library homepage for suggestions.

It’s time for research in

the Library. We will be learning about and practicing with a research system called

The Big 6.

Did you know that lefties have an advantage on the keyboard? They can use their dominant hand for the most commonly used letters, including E, T, and A.

Which word can you type using only the letters on the first row of the keyboard, the letters QWERTYUIOP? We found TYPEWRITER. Coincidence? We don’t think so! 😉

If you have any specific questions, please email your librarian: maryjo.fesenmaier@badger.k12.wi.us .

Congratulations to this month's winners of

Teacher Trivia!

(the answer was Mrs. Wiswell!)

School attendance is very important, and we encourage families to make sure their children are in school as much as possible. However, children who are sick need to stay home for their well-being and to prevent others from becoming sick. School Breakfast Program

Dear Parents,

Now that the school year is well underway, we are as committed as ever to our student's academic success. The first and best tool we can use to ensure all of our students are successful in school is to guarantee that each child begins the day with a healthy and nutritious breakfast – at home or school.

We would like to remind you that the School Breakfast Program is available to all students every school day. No advanced registration is necessary. These supervised meals are nutritionally balanced and vary daily. Second-chance breakfast is also available at the High School and Middle School.

School Breakfast is ideal for busy mornings when kids are running late, or parents have early work schedules. Often, kids are not hungry when they first wake up but are ready to eat when school begins. If breakfast at home is not convenient, please take advantage of breakfast here at school. Studies have shown that children who eat a nutritious breakfast have better behavior, attendance, and test scores.

School Breakfast Price:

High School: $1.70

Middle and Elementary Schools: $1.60

If you did not complete a School Meals Application for free or reduced price meals in September and would like to now, please call (Jaclyn Sanders 262-348-1015) for further information.

Thank you for helping us ensure that all of our students start the school day alert, well-fed, and ready to learn.

Sincerely,

Jaclyn Sanders
