Engage. Educate. Empower.

Dear Eastview Families,

What an incredible first month we have had! As we wrap up September, I am filled with gratitude for the warm welcome our students and families have extended to our school community. It has been a joy to witness the enthusiasm and positive energy filling our hallways each day—a wonderful foundation for the year ahead.

Building on that warm start, this month has been all about establishing strong foundations for success. Our students have been learning and practicing the routines and expectations that create a safe, supportive environment where everyone can thrive. I have been impressed by how quickly they have embraced these guidelines and shown responsibility and kindness toward one another. Students take great pride in earning Eagle feathers for modeling these expectations, and our weekly raffles continue to motivate them to Be Kind, Be Well, and Be Strong.

Alongside building these routines and relationships, we completed our iReady diagnostic assessments in Math and English Language Arts (ELA). These valuable assessments provide insight into each student's learning needs and help us tailor instruction to support growth. Our teachers are already using the results to guide their planning and ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed.

Beyond the classroom, we have also found meaningful ways to build community and celebrate being part of the Eastview family. Our first monthly assembly brought the entire school together to celebrate learning and togetherness. We also hosted a special attendance activity where students threw water balloons at me, along with our Dean of Students and Math Interventionist. The laughter and joy on our students' faces reminded us why we do this work and how important it is to create a school where learning is fun and relationships matter.

That spirit of connection will carry into October, which promises plenty of opportunities to come together. Students can look forward to another whole-school assembly, cross country meets through our Lighted Schoolhouse activities, as well as homecoming week, and new end-of-the-month activities hosted by our PTO. We’re excited to share these moments with our Eastview community and will provide more information as dates approach.

As these October activities bring us together, I encourage you to continue supporting your child's learning at home, celebrating their efforts and growth, and reaching out with any questions or concerns you may have. Together, we continue to build something special at Eastview Elementary.

Warm regards,

Katie Stanton

Principal

Communication Protocol

Whom do I contact with a question or suggestion?

Lake Geneva Schools’ communication protocols help promote direct, open, and respectful interactions so that we can quickly and efficiently resolve problems and concerns. The communication protocol starts with the staff member closest to the situation, as that person usually has the most information. However, at times, additional personnel are required to resolve specific concerns. Click here for more information and to view the Lake Geneva Schools Communication Matrix.

When to Keep Your Child Home

At Lake Geneva Schools, we know that regular attendance is key to academic success! Being in class daily helps students build strong habits, stay engaged, and gain valuable social skills. However, we also want to maintain a healthy, germ-free learning environment.

Use this guide (https://bit.ly/healthyLGS) to help decide when your child should attend school or stay home to recover. If your child has a fever over 100.4°F, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours, it's best for them to rest at home. For minor symptoms like a runny nose, if there’s no fever, they’re ready for class!

When in doubt, contact the school health office, and let's work together to keep everyone healthy and learning!

Attendance Matters

One of the biggest ways you can help your child succeed this school year is to make sure your child gets to school on time each and every day. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement. Every day counts, and missing school even 10% of the time has a significant negative impact on reading and math achievement as children progress through school. We want to ask for your commitment to making sure your child attends school every day possible this year.

When your child does have to be absent from school, we ask that you communicate with us about the absence. When your child will be absent, you have two communication options:

Call or email Mrs. Donahue in the main office at 262-348-6000 to speak with her and/or leave a message by 9:00 AM each day.

You may log in to PowerSchool to record the reason for your child’s absence. Please see the directions linked here.

We also ask that you let us know about pre-planned absences, including vacations and doctor appointments, ahead of time. When missing school for an appointment, it is always encouraged that you get documentation of your visit to provide to the school as verification. When leaving for an extended vacation (3 or more days), we also ask that you complete the Planned Absence Request Form. This form can be obtained in the office.

Lastly, please also note that, as a school, we are required to track student attendance and support families with any attendance issues or concerns. Our highest priority is to have students at school, and we are willing to help in any way we can. As a parent, it is important to understand the current State of Wisconsin attendance laws stated below:

A parent or guardian may only excuse their child/children for 10 days during the school year, including doctor visits. After these 10 days, an absence can only be excused if the school is provided with a note from a doctor, dentist, court, etc. The same guidelines apply to excessive tardies.

Once a student has been absent for 7 days (excused or unexcused), parents/guardians will receive a letter noting the absences as well as procedures for the next steps to improve attendance.

Thank you in advance for your commitment and support to your child’s attendance this school year.

Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up

School Hours: 8:35 AM - 3:35 PM

 Drop-Off: 8:20 - 8:35 AM

 Pick-up: 3:30 - 3:35 PM

Bus Dismissal: 3:35 PM

When arriving at school on the first day, if driving your child, we ask that you drop your child off outside of the school, give them a hug and a kiss, and send them on their way with a smile! Students should enter the building and go to their homeroom class. We will have teachers and staff here to help any student who might need assistance getting to his/her classroom.

Morning and Afternoon Student Drop-off and Pick-up Procedures

AM Drop Off: 8:20 - 8:35 AM

  • Enter the parking lot at the far Sage Street entrance
  • Pull into lane 1 to drop off student/s. Students should exit on the right side of the vehicle and cross with the adult to the school building.
  • Parents remain in the vehicle
  • Exit the parking lot using the same entrance

PM Pick-up: 3:30 - 3:35 PM

  • We ask that parents arrive no earlier than 3:20 PM
  • If using the parking lot for pick-up, enter the parking lot at the Sage Street entrance
  • Park vehicles in lanes 1, 2 and 3 of the parking lot; when lane 1 becomes full, then use lane 2, and then lane 3. Do not block the drive for buses that will be coming into the lot.
  • Students will walk to your vehicle and enter the vehicle on the right side. There will be adults to monitor students crossing in the lot.
  • Parents may also park on both sides of Sage Street. We ask that parents park north of the crosswalk on Sage Street.
  • We will help students cross Sage Street at the crosswalk.
