Dear Eastview Families and Friends,
I hope you and your family enjoyed a restful Thanksgiving. It was heartwarming to see our students and staff come together for Eastview's Traditional Feast - sharing gratitude and learning about one another's traditions made the event very special.
As we settle into the second trimester, I am proud of the growth I see every day. Our students are actively engaging with the curriculum and teachers are continuing to reinforce schoolwide and classroom expectations. We are noticing strong academic progress and positive behavior across grades, and I'm grateful for the effort students continue to put into learning and kindness.
December brings many opportunities for community and celebration. Please look for information from your child's teacher about classroom events. Key school-wide activities this month include Eastview's Spelling Bee, the Holiday Treasure Shop, and the monthly Eastview assembly.
With winter break rapidly approaching, please remember that you can continue to support your child's learning during that time by reading together nightly, practicing math facts, and encouraging independence with routines. This month our character focus is empathy - please join us in talking with your child about noticing others' feelings and offering help.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for being an active part of the Eastview family. I look forward to seeing the learning, kindness, and celebrations this month will bring.
Warmly,
Katie Stanton
Principal

Dear Families,
We are excited to share some wonderful news as we head into the fall of our school year! Over the summer, our grade-level teams worked hard to update and improve our elementary report cards. These updates were made to better align with our current academic standards and curriculum.
Why is this change so positive?
- Clearer communication: The updated report cards provide families with a more accurate picture of what students are learning and how they are progressing in each subject area.
- Focus on growth: They highlight the skills and knowledge your child is building step by step, helping us celebrate progress along the way.
- Stronger connection to classroom learning: Since the report cards are directly tied to our curriculum, you will see a clearer link between what your child is doing in class and what is reflected on the report card.
- Support for every child: These changes provide teachers, families, and students the opportunity to partner more effectively in supporting each child’s learning journey.
- Alignment across grade levels: All of our 4K - 5th-grade teachers will be using the same rating system, aligning all of our report card templates as children progress through our grade levels.
These updates make it easier for families to understand student progress and help children take pride in their growth. Our teachers are eager to use the new format this year, and we look forward to sharing your student’s achievements with you in a way that is both meaningful and encouraging.
At your fall parent-teacher conference at the end of October, your teacher will preview a copy of the new report card template with you. Additionally, we have also moved to a trimester grading system for our 4K - 5th-grade students. Please note that you will be receiving a report card for your 4K - 5th-grade student(s) on December 5th, March 13th, and June 5th. Lake Geneva Middle School and Badger High School remain on quarterly grading periods.
Thank you for your continued partnership. Together, we are helping our students reach their fullest potential!
Sincerely,
Erin Zigler
Director of Curriculum and Instruction

Each month, Eastview students will nominate fellow Eagles who exemplify Being Kind, Being Strong, and Being Well for the SOAR Award! This year's focus will be on the characteristics that students will be learning about in their Character Strong curriculum. Students who receive the award will be recognized on our morning announcements, will be highlighted in our monthly newsletter, will have the opportunity to eat with friends in our new Eagle's Nest, and will receive a certificate honoring their positive contribution to the culture of Eastview.
SOAR Award recipients are not necessarily those students who excel academically or in extracurricular activities. With this award, staff are striving to recognize students who continue to follow school-wide and classroom expectations, and who exhibit values that make a positive difference in our school and community. These are students who demonstrate exceptional character but never expect recognition. They are members of our Eastview Elementary community who are seen as positively impacting the culture of our school on a daily basis.
This month, the recipients of the SOAR award have shown that they continually demonstrate what it means to show responsibility. Congratulations to Braxton Bouzek, Erick Chavez Rodriguez, Bennett Hancock, Lucy Katzenberg, Phillip Kauffman, Reid Leach, Christopher Sanchez, Reed Schinker, Kaleb Schladweiler, Quincy Schrack, and George Street.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope you and your family are well. Please note an important reminder about student medications at school.
-
All medications, including cough drops and other over‑the‑counter items, must be sent to school in their original, labeled packaging.
-
An Over‑The‑Counter Medication Authorization Form must be completed and returned before school staff can administer any nonprescription medication to your child, INCLUDING COUGH DROPS. (please click on the link below for the form)
- Prescription medications must also be in their original pharmacy containers and accompanied by the required authorization form filled out and signed by both the parent and the prescribing physician.
Over-The-Counter Medication Authorization Form
These procedures help keep students safe and ensure staff have the correct dosage and instructions. If you need a copy of the authorization form or have questions, please contact the school office.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Stefanie Keisler, RN

| | Great News: Our Schools Exceed Expectations | | |
We are proud to share some exciting news with our families and community: Lake Geneva Joint #1 School District and Lake Geneva-Genoa City Union (Badger) High School District have Exceeded Expectations on Accountability Report Cards issued in November 2025 by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
According to the DPI, Central-Denison Elementary School Significantly Exceeded Expectations. Star Center Elementary School, Eastview Elementary School, Lake Geneva Middle School, and Badger High School have all Exceeded Expectations.
The DPI report card is an important tool that measures how well schools are supporting student learning and growth. Ratings are based on multiple factors, including academic achievement, student growth, closing learning gaps, and readiness for life after high school. Receiving multiple Exceeds Expectations ratings and a Significantly Exceeds Expectations rating means that our schools are not only meeting state standards, but we are going above and beyond to help students succeed.
This accomplishment reflects the dedication of our teachers and staff, the hard work of our students, the intentional work of district leadership aligned to our strategic plan, and the strong support of our families and community partners. Together, we are creating schools where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
We are especially proud that this success was achieved across all schools in Lake Geneva Schools, from our youngest learners in elementary classrooms to our high school students preparing for college and careers. It shows that our commitment to excellence is consistent across our system.
Thank you to our families and community for being such an important part of our success. Your support, encouragement, and partnership make a difference every day. We will continue to build on this momentum as we work toward even higher goals for our students and schools. Together, we are proving that when schools, families, and communities engage, educate, and empower our students, great things happen.

| | We are once again asking that children bring their own individual snacks and water bottles. Students are welcome to bring store-bought birthday treats and special event snacks. We do have fill stations at the drinking fountains throughout the building so students can refill their water bottles. No worries if your child does not have a water bottle, as the drinking fountains will be accessible, as needed. | | |
One of the biggest ways you can help your child succeed this school year is to make sure your child gets to school on time each and every day. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement. Every day counts, and missing school even 10% of the time has a significant negative impact on reading and math achievement as children progress through school. We want to ask for your commitment to making sure your child attends school every day possible this year.
When your child does have to be absent from school, we ask that you communicate with us about the absence. When your child will be absent, you have two communication options:
Call or email Mrs. Donahue in the main office at 262-348-6000 to speak with her and/or leave a message by 9:00 AM each day.
You may log in to PowerSchool to record the reason for your child’s absence. Please see the directions linked here.
We also ask that you let us know about pre-planned absences, including vacations and doctor appointments, ahead of time. When missing school for an appointment, it is always encouraged that you get documentation of your visit to provide to the school as verification. When leaving for an extended vacation (3 or more days), we also ask that you complete the Planned Absence Request Form. This form can be obtained in the office.
Lastly, please also note that, as a school, we are required to track student attendance and support families with any attendance issues or concerns. Our highest priority is to have students at school, and we are willing to help in any way we can. As a parent, it is important to understand the current State of Wisconsin attendance laws stated below:
A parent or guardian may only excuse their child/children for 10 days during the school year, including doctor visits. After these 10 days, an absence can only be excused if the school is provided with a note from a doctor, dentist, court, etc. The same guidelines apply to excessive tardies.
Once a student has been absent for 7 days (excused or unexcused), parents/guardians will receive a letter noting the absences as well as procedures for the next steps to improve attendance.
Thank you in advance for your commitment and support to your child’s attendance this school year.
| | When to Send Your Child to School or Keep Them Home? | | |
At Lake Geneva Schools, we know that regular attendance is key to academic success! Being in class daily helps students build strong habits, stay engaged, and gain valuable social skills. However, we also want to maintain a healthy, germ-free learning environment.
Use this guide (https://bit.ly/healthyLGS) to help decide when your child should attend school or stay home to recover. If your child has a fever over 100.4°F, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours, it's best for them to rest at home. For minor symptoms like a runny nose, if there’s no fever, they’re ready for class!
When in doubt, contact the school health office, and let's work together to keep everyone healthy and learning!
