NEWSLETTER

Engage. Educate. Empower.

Dear Eastview Families and Friends,

October has been an action-packed month filled with learning, fun, and excitement here at Eastview! Our students have been diving into new concepts across math, ELA, science, and social studies. Our amazing teachers have been working closely with students in both large and small groups, checking progress and creating engaging opportunities for reflection. It was fantastic to connect with families and share these exciting learning moments along with the great progress your students have made so far this year at parent/teacher conferences.

Beyond the classroom, October brought some unforgettable extras like Badger Homecoming week, the LGMS band parade at Eastview, the Eastview-Star cross country meet, our teacher trivia fun, and the Scholastic Book Fair.

Looking ahead to November brings many reasons to celebrate and reflect. This month, our Character Strong focus will be on gratitude—appreciating the people and moments that boost our well-being and happiness. Gratitude will also take center stage during our annual Eastview Feast. Plus, we’re excited to celebrate the end of our trimester with the Eagle Earnings raffle, where students can enter for a chance to win awesome items with their hard-earned Eagle Earnings!

As always, feel free to reach out with any questions. As we move into the season of Thanksgiving, we are truly grateful for your ongoing support and for being a vibrant part of our Eastview community.

Warmly,

Katie Stanton

Principal

Report Card Updates

Dear Families,

We are excited to share some wonderful news as we head into the fall of our school year! Over the summer, our grade-level teams worked hard to update and improve our elementary report cards. These updates were made to better align with our current academic standards and curriculum.

Why is this change so positive?

  • Clearer communication: The updated report cards provide families with a more accurate picture of what students are learning and how they are progressing in each subject area.

  • Focus on growth: They highlight the skills and knowledge your child is building step by step, helping us celebrate progress along the way.

  • Stronger connection to classroom learning: Since the report cards are directly tied to our curriculum, you will see a clearer link between what your child is doing in class and what is reflected on the report card.

  • Support for every child: These changes provide teachers, families, and students the opportunity to partner more effectively in supporting each child’s learning journey.

  • Alignment across grade levels: All of our 4K - 5th-grade teachers will be using the same rating system, aligning all of our report card templates as children progress through our grade levels.

These updates make it easier for families to understand student progress and help children take pride in their growth. Our teachers are eager to use the new format this year, and we look forward to sharing your student’s achievements with you in a way that is both meaningful and encouraging.

At your fall parent-teacher conference at the end of October, your teacher will preview a copy of the new report card template with you. Additionally, we have also moved to a trimester grading system for our 4K - 5th-grade students. Please note that you will be receiving a report card for your 4K - 5th-grade student(s) on December 5th, March 13th, and June 5th. Lake Geneva Middle School and Badger High School remain on quarterly grading periods.

Thank you for your continued partnership. Together, we are helping our students reach their fullest potential!

Sincerely,

Erin Zigler

With the purchase of your ticket, kids ages (6-15) will be entered to win an experience at the game.

When buying your tickets it will ask how many children ages 6-15 are in your group and also the school they attend. When all tickets are sold they will pull names and those children will get to either sit courtside for warm ups or do the tunnel prior to the game.

All unsold reserved seats have to given back by October 18th. However, anyone can still grab a ticket on the link after October 18th. You can also purchase from the link the day of the game, as well.

SOAR AWARDS

Each month, Eastview students will nominate fellow Eagles who exemplify Being Kind, Being Strong, and Being Well for the SOAR Award! This year's focus will be on the characteristics that students will be learning about in their Character Strong curriculum. Students who receive the award will be recognized on our morning announcements, will be highlighted in our monthly newsletter, will have the opportunity to eat with friends in our new Eagle's Nest, and will receive a certificate honoring their positive contribution to the culture of Eastview.

SOAR Award recipients are not necessarily those students who excel academically or in extracurricular activities. With this award, staff are striving to recognize students who continue to follow school-wide and classroom expectations, and who exhibit values that make a positive difference in our school and community. These are students who demonstrate exceptional character but never expect recognition. They are members of our Eastview Elementary community who are seen as positively impacting the culture of our school on a daily basis.

This month, the recipients of the SOAR award have shown that they continually demonstrate what it means to be respectful. Congratulations to Gracie Cho, Isla Clark, Ruka Connelly, Genevieve Duncklee, Lena Leach, Javier Lira Aguilera, Lucas Marquez Villanueva, Anayeli Reyes Torres, Ivy Rorig-Gerblick, Iker Torres-Amador, and Quinn Velleux.

Snacks & Water Bottles

We are once again asking that children bring their own individual snacks and water bottles. Students are welcome to bring store-bought birthday treats and special event snacks. We do have fill stations at the drinking fountains throughout the building so students can refill their water bottles. No worries if your child does not have a water bottle, as the drinking fountains will be accessible, as needed.

Attendance

One of the biggest ways you can help your child succeed this school year is to make sure your child gets to school on time each and every day. The evidence is clear: children with good attendance are more likely to be successful in school. High attendance rates are linked to high student achievement. Every day counts, and missing school even 10% of the time has a significant negative impact on reading and math achievement as children progress through school. We want to ask for your commitment to making sure your child attends school every day possible this year.

When your child does have to be absent from school, we ask that you communicate with us about the absence. When your child will be absent, you have two communication options:

Call or email Mrs. Donahue in the main office at 262-348-6000 to speak with her and/or leave a message by 9:00 AM each day.

You may log in to PowerSchool to record the reason for your child’s absence. Please see the directions linked here.

We also ask that you let us know about pre-planned absences, including vacations and doctor appointments, ahead of time. When missing school for an appointment, it is always encouraged that you get documentation of your visit to provide to the school as verification. When leaving for an extended vacation (3 or more days), we also ask that you complete the Planned Absence Request Form. This form can be obtained in the office.

Lastly, please also note that, as a school, we are required to track student attendance and support families with any attendance issues or concerns. Our highest priority is to have students at school, and we are willing to help in any way we can. As a parent, it is important to understand the current State of Wisconsin attendance laws stated below:

A parent or guardian may only excuse their child/children for 10 days during the school year, including doctor visits. After these 10 days, an absence can only be excused if the school is provided with a note from a doctor, dentist, court, etc. The same guidelines apply to excessive tardies.

Once a student has been absent for 7 days (excused or unexcused), parents/guardians will receive a letter noting the absences as well as procedures for the next steps to improve attendance.

Thank you in advance for your commitment and support to your child’s attendance this school year.

When to Send Your Child to School or Keep Them Home?

At Lake Geneva Schools, we know that regular attendance is key to academic success! Being in class daily helps students build strong habits, stay engaged, and gain valuable social skills. However, we also want to maintain a healthy, germ-free learning environment.

Use this guide (https://bit.ly/healthyLGS) to help decide when your child should attend school or stay home to recover. If your child has a fever over 100.4°F, vomiting, or diarrhea in the last 24 hours, it's best for them to rest at home. For minor symptoms like a runny nose, if there’s no fever, they’re ready for class!

When in doubt, contact the school health office, and let's work together to keep everyone healthy and learning!

When arriving at school on the first day, if driving your child, we ask that you drop your child off outside of the school, give them a hug and a kiss, and send them on their way with a smile! Students should enter the building and go to their homeroom class. We will have teachers and staff here to help any student who might need assistance getting to his/her classroom.

  • We ask that parents arrive no earlier than 3:20 PM

Volunteers

Parental support is very important to ALL of the students and staff. We welcome you to volunteer in whatever ways you can. If you are interested in helping at school or want to volunteer for school events, please complete the VOLUNTEER APPLICATION AND CONSENT FORM. It is available on the district website or from the school office.
