Introducing the STEM Activities!
|
At Eastview, it is important for us to personalize our learning opportunities to the unique needs of the 4
th and 5
th grader. One way we do this is through an “exploratory”. Exploratories are 30 thirty minutes a day, Monday – Thursday, and usually last for about 20 days. We have 4 exploratory sessions during the school year, with the first one starting in October. During this time students may receive extra help in reading and math. They may have opportunities to practice literacy and math concepts through project based learning, or they may explore a science and social studies topic. Students rotate through the exploratories throughout the year. This year, we are fortunate to have added a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) rotation. Students will have opportunities to program robots, build structures, experiment with 3D printing, and code with Lego Robotics. During this time, your student may travel to another grade level teacher, a specialist, or an interventionist. They will also have the opportunity to work with students from other classes. This block is always a popular time with our students. We can’t wait to begin exploring new things!

A Great Start to Soaring like an Eagle!
Our students are excited about our SOAR expectations. Our Eagles are truly amazing and have shown great character in the first month of school. Have you asked your student to do our SOAR chant?

R.E.A.D.S. Mentor Program
Would you, or someone you know, be willing to volunteer one half hour a week to read with a child? Our R.E.A.D.S. program is Tuesday-Thursday from 8:00-8:30 AM at Eastview. Parents and Grandparents are always welcome!
If interested, please contact Erica Levato at Erica.levato@badger.k12.wi.us

About those cell phones....
Please remember that bringing cell phones to school is strongly discouraged. If a student chooses to bring one, it must remain off and in their backpack during the school day. We do not have lockers to keep them secure. Parents can always relay messages from home by calling the office, and we will be sure your student receives them!
