Have you ever been underestimated? Have you ever felt like you are always behind and can’t quite catch up? Are there times in life when you believe that something must be wrong with you because living shouldn’t be this hard? Seemingly is every day a “treading water” day? This Sunday’s sermon is called “God Bless the Underdog” from II Corinthians 4:7-10. The other lesson is Psalm 50:1-6. Join us Sunday at 10 am, and let’s see just how blessed we underdogs are.

LHPC & The Dallas Police Department
As you may be aware, LHPC has contracted with the Dallas Police Department to provide an officer on Sundays to help ensure the safety of those attending church in the morning. While we maintain a wonderful working relationship with the Northeast station, this is a service we must pay for. The cost is not insignificant, but Session believes it is a worthwhile use of money to ensure those who worship with us can do so more safely.

You may also be aware that during the pandemic, many churches’ revenues have declined, LHPC’s included. Because of this, many things Session wishes to pay for are not always in the budget. The request we have is to consider making a gift beyond your regular giving to a special offering that will allow us to continue to pay for the presence of DPD on Sunday mornings. We are hoping to raise an additional $3,500, which per household would equate to an extra $35.

If you would like to contribute the suggested amount or any amount you are comfortable with, you may do so in two ways: In the online giving portal, you may designate funds to “Other” and list “Security.” By check, you may write “Security” in the memo line.

If you have any questions about this, please reach out to Perryn or any member of Session.

On August 28, Leanne will host meetings with families of young children and families with Youth (6-12grade). During this time, families will hear about fall plans, talk about ways to better communicate with them, and have a chance to share their hopes and ideas about the ministries.

Adults of Families with young children are invited to meet in the Narthex during the Sunday School Hour on August 28.
Youth and their adults are invited to meet in the Narthex on August 28 at Noon.

Announcements
The Session and Post-COVID Church Steering Committee are working diligently to improve our church-wide communication and coordination. To that end, we have a new protocol for all requests for promotion, communication, or suggestions for improvement. All submissions for eBlast, Newsletter, social media, or suggestions should be submitted to the Communications Committee inbox at [email protected]. The chair will then forward it to the appropriate individuals. This will ensure we give your request the attention it deserves. Thank you so much!
