PSAT (Jan 26th) Info:
What students should know about the  PSAT/NMSQT  Testing day…

Testing date is January 26, 2021 at 7:30 a.m. Please note that Pre-registration will take place on test day.

ALL students will be informed of room assignments by their English teacher 1-2 weeks prior to 1/26/21

If you do not know your room assignment, then ASK your English teacher. Either way, ALL teachers will have a student roster with ALL student room assignations.  đź™‚

YOU MUST ARRIVE IN TIME. If you are late, then you will not be allowed to enter the testing room once testing has begun.
PHY students and teachers will go to first period of the day- take attendance and will be dismissed by the bell at 7:30 a.m. or 7:40 a.m.
MSO students should arrive at 7:30 a.m. All students would have been informed of their room assignments prior to coming to the front of the school. The room assignation list will be posted at the  front  of the school if student forgets room number.
MSO students will go   directly  to their assigned testing room once they arrive at school.
MSO students  cannot stay in the school building  after test dismissal. They must have a ride home.

Add 45 minutes extra to times shown below for the pre-administration section.
Standard time 2 hours, 55 minutes
Standard time extra breaks 3 hours, 10 minutes
50% Extended time 4 hours, 34 minutes (we will provide lunch for those students who will miss lunch due to accommodations. Students may bring own lunch as well).

What to bring:
Bring testing pass that was given to student by their English teacher prior to test day- if you have it. MSO students (online) will receive passes from proctor on test day.
All students must bring facial mask.
May bring book bag which will be placed in a designated area in the room.
2-4 No.2 sharpened pencils with soft erasers; NO pens or mechanical pencils. Small-basic sharpener. We have extra pencils.
Acceptable calculator ( we will provide a 4-function calculator ). You may bring an approved graphic calculator by college board, Ti-30xa calculator, or a calculator that does  not  have a QWERTY keyboard.
Bring photo ID
May bring snacks and water bottle but must be placed inside a clear bag (e.g., Ziploc bag). You will not be allowed to eat inside the testing room. Only eat during the 10-minute break.

What NOT to bring:
Mobile phones must be turned  OFF and inside book bag  BEFORE  entering testing room .  DO NOT bring smartwatches, fitness trackers, or other wearable technology. Basically,  DO NOT  bring any personal computing devices.
If you bring a mobile phone and do not have a book bag, you will give your phone to the proctor. Make sure to turn it  OFF, not in "silence mode." It will be returned before dismissal from testing room.

After test:
If you are an MSO student (on-line) you must go home. You are NOT allowed to stay in the school building after you are finished with testing. Your proctor will dismiss you at the appropriate time.
If you are a PHY student (at-school) you will be dismissed to lunch or back to class after testing is done.  Your proctor will dismiss you at the appropriate time.

The College Board has established alternate entry into the National Merit Scholarship Program for current juniors who are ill and unable to test PSAT/NMSQT on January 26, 2021. Please see below and share this information. You may download the NMS Corporation PDF available below for the alternate entry criteria.
Remind students to stay home if they’re sick. Students who are unable to take the PSAT/NMSQT may request alternate entry into the National Merit® Scholarship Program. For more information, review the requirements for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (.pdf/152 KB).

Requirements:
To enter the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program based on your SAT scores in lieu of PSAT/NMSQT scores, you must:
1) take an official administration of the SAT given from August 2020 to June 2021;
2) request that College Board SAT Program send an official report of your SAT scores to NMSC (code 0085). The SAT Program will not report your scores to NMSC unless you request it. You cannot use a photocopy of the score report sent to you or to your high school as a substitute for the official report; and
3) visit forms.nationalmerit.org/alternateentry immediately to complete the Alternate Entry Form. You cannot be considered in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program unless you complete this online form no later than Thursday, April 1, 2021.
Deadline:
Your Alternate Entry Form must be submitted online no later than Thursday, April 1, 2021. NMSC will not accept Alternate Entry Form submissions after this date.
Submit your SAT scores as soon as they become available. NMSC must receive your SAT scores no later than October 15, 2021.

MPSH will be taking school photos on Thursday, January 28th & Friday, January 29th. Fox-Mar will photograph each student regardless of a package purchase. All packages are pre-paid and must be paid for on or before Picture Day; prepaying for the packages online is recommended. You can pre-pay online by going to www.foxmar.com/prepay. This is a major fundraiser for our school and a great opportunity to buy portraits of your child that you will cherish for years to come. Tuesday (1/26/2021) we will be hosting an evening discussion focused on you and your child in the class of 2023 and 2024.

This discussion will be primarily focused on planning for college, scholarships, and post-secondary planning. 

We will cover other issues and try to answer your questions. 

Obviously, we will be doing this on Zoom, and we are limited to 300 families.

The zoom link is below and will be on the PTSA website.

If for some reason you cannot be there, or we fill up we will put it on YouTube the following day.

This is the only opportunity to order your cap and gown at the discounted rate and before the child is cleared to graduate in May. After the deadline the price will double and the student will need to wait to purchase the cap and gown just days before graduation with “proof of graduation clearance” at the Herff Jones Store in Doral. Civic engagement is the centerpiece for being a well-informed citizen. By being involved in the community, you will learn the intricacies of how and why elections matter, contribute to the process and have a rich understanding of how public policy impacts our quality of life. There are varying degrees of involvement but what matters most is that you engage somewhere in the process.
