Final Message from Your President:

WE MADE IT!!! The last few days of the school year are finally here. What a crazy, chaotic, and stressful last few months it has been for all of us. Through it all, our students, teachers, staff, and parents have gone above and beyond to make it work. I’m so proud to be a part of this Panther family and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for your patience and willingness to be there for each other.

CONGRATUALTIONS to our outstanding Senior Class! We are heartbroken that we can’t all be together to celebrate you and all you have accomplished. The Class of 2020 will be remembered forever for your strength and resilience. Our hearts are with you as you continue your journey and we know that you will succeed in all you set out to do!

Although we don’t know what the future holds or what the next school year will look like yet, we have hope that things will start to return to some semblance of normalcy over the next few months. No matter what the future holds, I know that our Panthers will meet it with grace and strength.

Even though this is our last weekly e-newsletter of the year, PTSA will continue to post any important info on Facebook and Instagram as well as send out e-blasts when needed. Please stay connected and in touch. We hope that everyone has a safe and relaxing summer.

Warmly,

Gina Vinueza
MPSH PTSA President

Palmetto High School Spiritwear:
The Miami Palmetto Senior’s PTSA school store is operated by  Sharingwear.org , a charitable organization founded and operated by Nicole Markus, a Palmetto High senior. Sharingwear’s Palmetto Senior Online Store is the sole PTSA/school source to buy dress code shirts for Palmetto Senior as the Palmetto Senior PTSA does not operate a physical store at school. All clothing featured on Sharingwear’s Palmetto Senior Online Store are approved by Miami Palmetto Senior High as qualified dress code attire that can be worn to school five days a week.
Designs can be purchased in multiple clothing styles (tshirts, sweatshirts, etc.) and some designs are available in multiple colors. Orders are custom printed and take 2-3 weeks for delivery, however COVID-19 may add some extra time to the delivery timeline, so order early on!
All profits from Sharingwear’s Palmetto Senior Online Store are shared 50% with the Palmetto Senior PTSA and 50% with Sharingwear’s Charity of the Month. The current Charity of the Month is COVID-19 Relief.
Please visit  SharingWear.org  to stock up on clothes for next year!
SCOIR IS HERE!
This is just the beginning of a new chapter of college search and applications. MDCPS is using a program called SCOIR which will facilitate applications, college search, interest inventory, and everything else pertaining to post secondary search.
We need our students and parents to sign up for this as soon as possible.
Here is a list of instructions for the kids to sign up.

Please pass it on to your kids no matter what the grade level is, but we are focusing on juniors right now.
They will be able to use it today!

Students can use these instructions to register for their Scoir account, which are also located in the Student Getting Started Guide.

If you are using the URL method (which is what I recommend if students do not check their email), those instructions begin at the 1:25 minute mark of the video. Please see below for written instructions:

Step 1: Open up your school registration URL:  https://app.scoir.com/signup?hsid=101153

Step 2: Enter an email that you would like associated with your Scoir account and submit. This should be an email that you plan to frequently check because important notifications, such as messages from your counselor, will be sent to this email address.

Step 3: Check your email to find the Scoir email invitation and select the option to complete your registration.

Step 4: You may be prompted to enter your Student ID number and birthdate. Enter this information correctly and select the option to verify your student ID.

Step 5: Create a password and sign up! You can now begin exploring Scoir!

Step 6: To access your account moving forward, sign in at  app.scoir.com

UP-START Program Info (for students currently experiencing unstable housing):

Hello Families,

With so many families in our community facing difficult times due to the coronavirus outbreak, unstable housing has become more commonplace and this is a top concern and priority for Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Did you know that Project UP-START is a program that provides additional support services to any student who is currently experiencing unstable housing? This includes students who are sharing the housing of family or friends out of hardship, students living in temporary shelters, public places, or in a hotel/motel.
If you have school-aged children living in any unstable housing situation or know a family with M-DCPS students in this situation, please visit Project UP-START’s website at http://projectupstart.dadeschools.net for information about the program and services. Students who qualify will be registered into Project UP-START and will be eligible to receive additional support services to improve their attendance and achieve academic success. Take care of yourself and be safe.

Saludos familias,

Cuídense y manténganse a salvo.
