Eblen Charities October 2020 Newsletter

Greetings, Eblen friends and family!

October at Eblen means BOOsters and Pumpkins! These friendly ghosts and pumpkins are often seen around town, hanging in the halls at local schools, decorating walls at Ingles Markets, Bojangles, Asheville Outlets and other area businesses. Along with this, we have a new way to help! Virtual Pumpkins! Because of this unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, requests have skyrocketed. With thousands of people out of work and many children at home, the challenges for struggling families are greater than ever. Click the link below and donate to our Virtual Pumpkin Fundraiser or click the Create Your Own Fundraiser button.

Enhanced Giving Incentives for Taxpayers
The CARES Act
Temporary Changes to Charitable Giving Laws

On March 27, the President signed the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which provides tax incentives for charitable giving for both individuals and businesses. As you look for ways to help the people we serve, be sure to consider the provisions of the CARES act.

For example, if you itemize your deductions, the adjusted grow income (AGI) limit for cash contributions has been increased for individual donors. For cash contributions made in 2020, you can now elect to deduct up to 100 percent of your AGI (up from 60 percent).

The AGI limit for cash contributions was also increased for corporate donors. Corporations can now deduct up to 25 percent of taxable income (up from 10 percent).

And, if you’re not itemizing, the CARES Act allows for an additional “above the line” deduction for charitable gifts made in cash of up to $300.

These new incentives do not apply to contributions made to a donor advised fund or a supporting organization.
COVID-19 UPDATE
