2022 Field Trial Results - Summary:
Eckosil was applied at 16 fl oz/A in a four-application program, compared to Diffusion at 240 fl oz/A, and Surround at 50 lbs/A. The first application was made prior to the first heat event, and subsequent applications were made every 14 days.
Yield Results
The untreated trees averaged 9,200 nuts per tree with an average nut weight of 12.3 g, corresponding to yields of 9,010 lbs/A. Eckosil treated trees showed 12,250 nuts per tree, average nut weight of 12.8 g, corresponding to 12437 lbs/A.
Sunburn
Eckosil treated nuts averaged 79.4% light meat and 2.9% dark (sunburn damaged). For comparison, the untreated showed 75.4% light and 3.9% dark.
Conclusions
In this trial, Eckosil applied in four applications showed 5% increase in light nuts and 25% decrease in dark when compared with the untreated, demonstrating excellent sunburn control. Eckosil treated trees also showed an increase in nut retention (30% more) while maintaining nut size. Eckosil treated trees showed yields 35% significantly higher yield than untreated plots. In this trial, Eckosil would have returned to the grower $1700/A more than the untreated.
