City of Sheboygan Buys 197 Acres of Farmland in Town of Wilson
|
BizTimes — Hoping to address the dearth of available homes in their community, the landlocked city of Sheboygan has purchased 197 acres of farmland in the neighboring Town of Wilson for $3.67 million.
The plan, said Chad Pelishek, the city’s director of planning & development, is to annex the property and then work with developers to transform various sections of the parcel, and an adjacent 73 acres property, into 270 acres of available land that can be used for residential development.
The 197 acres property sits directly to the east of Moenning Road, near Creekview Court, across the road from an existing subdivision. It was sold to the city by farmer David Gartman.
Although the focus will be on creating affordable single-family homes, city officials envision a mix of housing options, from starter homes for younger families, single-family condos, duplexes and even some larger homes that might sell for $750,000, Pelishek said.

The City plans to use the parcel for single-family residential developments.

Froedtert & the Medical College Network Planning $43M Expansion in Sheboygan
|
TMJ4 — Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin is in the planning phase for a possible expansion in Sheboygan that would include a $43 million community hospital, medical office building and outpatient surgery center, according to our partners at the Milwaukee Business Journal.
The proposal on Sheboygan's northwest side near Interstate 43 was accepted by the property owner. The property owner is the Sheboygan Area School District.
The Milwaukee Business Journal reports the district selected the Froedtert and Medical College proposal over an apartment proposal from Continental Properties of Menomonee Falls and a senior living and assisted living concept from a Manitowoc developer.
Although the Sheboygan school board authorized the district's administration to pursue a $3 million offer to purchase from Froedtert and Medical College, the Milwaukee Business Journal reports it is not yet a done deal.
|
The SASD has scheduled a public meeting for April 19 at Sheboygan High School to discuss the sale of the property to Froedtert Health and the Medical College.
