This is a reminder to selected businesses on behalf of the U.S. Census Bureau:
The Economic Census is the official five-year measure of American business and the economy. According to the Census Bureau, data provided by businesses fuels the most comprehensive economic statistics available, representing all U.S. industries and geographies. By completing the Economic Census, businesses contribute to a wealth of valuable data that can help grow their business.
Invitations to complete the Economic Census were mailed to selected businesses starting on January 31, 2023. Response is required by law. The due date for the 2022 Economic Census has now passed. Businesses that received an invitation, but have not yet responded should log in to portal.census.gov to access their account.
Not every business received an invitation to participate in the Economic Census. If a business did not originally receive an invitation, they may not have been selected to participate and no action is required of them.
Check the How Do I Get Started page for detailed instructions on how to create an account to begin reporting, to check filing status, or ask for an extension. Businesses that need to request an extension can do so by logging into their account via the respondent portal, entering the authentication code sent to them by mail or email (found on the invitation to participate), and accessing their survey card.
Help completing the survey is available Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET by calling the customer help line on their letter. If the respondent has issues accessing their authentication code, they can call the customer help line at 1-800-584-9066. For more information visit census.gov/econ
