The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) has been recognized by the
Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education as a R1 Research University. "R1- Very High Research Activity" is the highest classification granted by the CCIHE. This distinction places USM in good company, as the list of 130 R1 Universities includes Mississippi State University and the University of Mississippi.
Classification as a R1 University is a major achievement for USM and is validation of the hard work that the staff, faculty and students have done to earn this prestigious honor. Read more about this story here.
USM to Host Economic Overview Forum
On February 14, The University of Southern Mississippi College of Business and Economic Development and the Trent Lott National Center will host the 2019 Economic Outlook Forum. The forum is sponsored by
The First- A National Banking Association.
This annual events brings experts from diverse economic backgrounds together to look at past issues and plan for the economic future of Mississippi.
