2017 Small Business Person of the Year Nomination
Do you know a small business person that should be recognized for outstanding service? August 28th is the deadline!















Nominees must: 
  1. Be a member of the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce
  2. Be associated with a for-profit company that employs 50 or fewer full-time employees
  3. Be an individual who owns and operates or who bears principal responsibility for operating a small business
Industrial Leader Helping The College
With graduates of Georgia Northwestern Technical College manning the machines at Densmore Machine in Dalton, Georgia on a daily basis, it's easy to see where donations to the region's largest college actually go in the end. Industry and local leaders stopped in at Densmore Machine on July 17 to celebrate a special gift from an industry leader.

Book Blast 2017
The importance of fostering a love of reading at an early age was on clear display last Thursday afternoon at the Mack Gaston Community Center for the sixth annual Readers to Leaders Book Blast.

Nurturing a culture of literacy is the point of the Readers to Leaders initiative, which works with both Whitfield and Dalton school systems and community partners throughout the area.

Groundbreaking Held for Haig Mill Park
Dalton Parks and Recreation Department Director Mike Miller pointed to an area just off the Haig Mill reservoir thickly tangled with trees, shrubs, and vines.

"I know you can't see it, but that's a diamond," he said. "It's a diamond in the rough, but we are about to cut and polish it for everyone to see."

Cyber Liability Workshop
With cyber-related attacks becoming more sophisticated every year, it is important to not only lower the risk of an attack but also be prepared if one occurs. Starr-Mathews Agency is proud to present our Cyber Liability Workshop, featuring Guest Speaker Janet Smith, President of Bailey Special Risks.

The Gordon County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the workshop on Tuesday, August 29th from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM.

This workshop is also being offered at an alternative location in Dalton, GA on Tuesday, August 29th from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at the Hilton Garden Inn on College Drive.
