Sand Creek Road Extension to Foster Private Investment in Contra Costa County Along Highway 4

The City of Brentwood is making a strategic investment by committing $9M in public funds to complete the Sand Creek Road extension. This move is projected to attract private investments that will contribute to both the city and overall region’s economic growth.

The extension of Sand Creek Road opens the west side of the Brentwood Innovation Center with 200 plus acres to a mix of light science, technology, light industry, and mixed-use development opportunities.

Brentwood’s Innovation Center represents one of the last several shovel-ready sites remaining where the land use and zoning controls are in place to support a new and/or expanding life science campus.

Governor Newsom Appoints Bakersfield Resident to Lead Employment Training Panel (ETP)

The office of Gov. Gavin Newsom announced last Tuesday he has appointed Bakersfield and Kern County resident Jessica Grimes to become executive director of California's Employment Training Panel.

Former Executive Director Reg Javier retired in June of this year.

Created in 1982, The Employment Training Panel (ETP) provides funding to employers to assist in upgrading the skills of their workers through training that leads to good paying, long-term jobs.

The new Gossamer Grove neighborhood will have about a total of 2,500 new homes developed by the end of 2025, with more than 5,000 lots planned.

While some 40 percent of the local workforce continues to be engaged in some form of agriculture, Shafter is one of the biggest logistics hub on the West Coast.

Wonderful Industrial Park 1,600+ acre facility now has various national and international companies providing nearly 10,000 jobs and plans to expand another five million square feet, adding as many as 5,000 new jobs.
