Addressing your concerns...
Our Economic Development team knows there is a sea of information coming out daily that is hard to keep up with, which is why we've created a webpage that simplifies the information and links to the provincial and federal measures being taken to help businesses.

On a municipal level, the Town has established a task force to work with other municipalities in York Region and financial organizations to look at funding opportunities. We are working hard on this and will share more information as soon as possible.

To date, the Town has deferred interest for late property tax and water bills for 90 days and has waived the proposed water and wastewater bill increase.

Also, property owners of businesses within the designated Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) will not have to pay the annual fees for activities undertaken by the BIA. The Town approved a grant of $10,000 for each BIA to support their annual budgets for 2020.

While we continue to find new ways to support our business community, we're here to help should you need any business assistance. We can be reached by email at  [email protected] a . To ask questions over the phone, contact Karyn Stone, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism, at 905-476-4301, ext. 2312.
We want to hear from you
Our Economic Development staff is committed to providing Georgina businesses with trusted and timely updates to support your business.

To better understand your needs and how we can help, we've teamed up with the Northern Six (N6) municipalities of York Region (Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Newmarket and Stouffville) and the York Region Economic Strategy Office to assist local businesses through this crisis.

Businesses are invited to fill out a form to request information on the changing resources available to companies in Ontario. You should also fill out the form if you require direct assistance from the Town's Economic Development officer.
Nobody knows how long this pandemic will last or the impact it will have on the economy, but we do know that the importance of our agriculture community is continuous. The sector has often taken a backseat to the modern tech contributors. However, in a time where we are all returning to our roots, the agriculture sector is thriving - feeding our economy.

Georgina is home to more than 100 farms covering 17,371 acres of farmland, with many who sell direct to consumers. There is a variety of agricultural products available through farm gate sales, stands and kiosks.

Now is the time to rediscover agriculture and connect with our community, at the roots. Learn more about our farm fresh sellers and the measures they're taking to ensure your safety by visiting our new webpage.
Georgina businesses are stepping up to support our community
In March, the Town called on businesses, organizations and residents to help support our local food pantry after the Georgina Lions Club graciously donated $2,000. The response from our community brings a sense of pride and inspiration to do good during these difficult times. Below are just some of the ways local businesses have selflessly stepped up to help.
