LEEDS GRENVILLE - Economic Development Week celebrates the contributions of the work undertaken by professionals. For over fifteen years, our team at the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Economic Development Office team has provided economic leadership and collaboration to support businesses and new investments for sustainable growth that promotes a high quality of life.

Building your Network
The Leeds Grenville Economic Development Summit is an annual event that brings business and political leaders together to build their knowledge and networks. Tickets sell-out quickly, mark your calendar and plan to attend on Friday, November 22, 2024.
Developing and Growing your Business
Support is available to move business ideas into reality. Register for a small business consultation to get you on the right path. Training and grants are available through the Summer Company and Starter Company Plus programs.
If your business has been operating for many years, and you are looking to make a change, address challenges or seeking a future opportunity to grow, staff are available to conduct a business visitation and explore support programs.
Inviting New Business
Counties Economic Development works actively to bring new business investment to the region. As citizens and business leaders of Leeds Grenville, you are ambassadors for the region when travelling or hosting clients and guests. Invite businesses to consider locating to the region; any business investment leads are greatly appreciated, and we are here to support.
Promoting and Sharing
Over 4,400 businesses are listed in our online business directory, make sure you are registered. The eNewsletter is our main communication, feel free to share with colleagues and other business owners to subscribe.
Additional marketing opportunities will be communicated to businesses who are registered in the directory and receiving the eNewsletter. The directory also feeds most of the municipal web directories.
Advancing Business Sectors – Tourism and Hospitality
Leeds Grenville is fortunate to have a diversified economy. During the pandemic, the tourism and hospitality sector suffered heavily. In support of this sector, a Regional Tourism Destination Development Strategy was created for Leeds Grenville. The tourism region has been formally branded the 1000 Islands Rideau Canal Waterways. New tourism products have been developed with more to come. Visitors can now enjoy the Adventure Series that features Gardens, Bakeries, Cafes and Foodie Shops. Learn how to run your own student business - it is one of the best summer jobs you will ever have!! Local business leaders help you get your business up and running. Training is provided in business management, marketing, invoicing, bookkeeping, sales, customer relations and much more.
The program provides $3,000 when you kick-off your new business and complete the summer.

Leeds Grenville Small Business oversees the Starter Company Plus and Summer Company programs that support small business start-ups. Training in the areas of business planning, coaching and business fundamentals is provided to program participants. Any business that is interested in delivering components of this training, please provide an overview of your company background and expertise along with the training services you offer.

Tourism Marketing Support, Full Time Contract
This position will support the Leeds Grenville Regional Tourism Destination Strategy through its implementation that is inclusive of supporting the regional tourism leadership committee. Counties Economic Development is the Regional Destination Management Organization for the 1000 Islands Rideau Canal Waterways tourism region.
The position will market existing tourism experiences and support the creation of new experiences. This includes content development, digital imagery, videography, social media, blogs and promotional campaigns. The position will develop travel media itineraries, coordinate logistics and host / attend any meetings and shoots.

Office Administrative Assistant, Student/Graduate
The Office Administrative Assistant will provide general office administrative support to the Economic Development and Communications Offices.
Activities will include research, agriculture and agri-food industry sector inventory review, business directory data collection and maintenance, digital marketing – video, content development and support for social media platforms along with event support.

Bring your leadership skills to RTO9. Positions will be filled at the 2024 AGM, two of the positions will be selected for the East Region and will fulfill a three-year term ending in 2027.
While all experience/skillsets will be considered, the Board are specifically in need of Finance/Accounting & Legal and would welcome applicants with this experience. RTO9 will continue to have broad representation from the geographic regions within South Eastern Ontario while encouraging applications from inside and outside of the tourism field and potentially outside of the region.
