MALLORYTOWN – Every dog that walks through the doors of deTails Dog Grooming leaves looking and feeling their best. With a flagship studio in Mallorytown and a new location in Gananoque, the business blends expert grooming, compassionate care, and the latest techniques, ensuring staff and services stay ahead of trends.
Master Groomer Chantel Hunt and her team take a holistic approach with every animal, recognizing that grooming extends beyond appearance to include overall health and emotional wellbeing. Services range from bathing, coat grooming, nail trimming, and ear cleaning to full groom packages. Clients can also select from a curated lineup of wholesome Canadian sourced nutritional products designed to support optimal pet health.
A Mallorytown native, Chantel’s grooming journey began when her young daughter saved up to purchase a toy poodle puppy. That first dog ignited a passion for canine care that has since grown into a thriving multi location business. Chantel is also a breeder of Mini Poodles and English Cocker Spaniels.
Chantel holds certifications from the National Dog Groomers Association of America and Canadian Professional Pet Stylists, teaches grooming and other seminars independently. She has most recently adopted the DAATA ICDG method which blends science, cosmetic technique, and holistic principles while respecting each dog’s individuality.
“Retention can be a challenge,” Chantel explains, “but because I teach the skill, I am able to recognize students who have a natural aptitude for the craft. I invite groomers with that balance to reach out to me for work opportunities,” she adds.
The deTails team of Jessica, Lesley, Darby, Katie, and Brittany, each bring their own personal touch to the grooming table. They value the workplace culture that prioritizes wellbeing, learning, and growth. “Grooming can present challenging situations for both animals and groomers,” Chantel shares. “Continuous learning brings us back to our passion, and the support we give each other boosts mental health and keeps the spark alive," she adds.
Looking ahead, Chantel plans to continue improving upon both locations while remaining active in her profession as Canada's Chapter representative for the International Grooming Society.
Her advice to fellow business owners is simple. “Concentrate on what you excel at, and leave much of the rest to professionals who excel at what they do.” She also credits Leeds Grenville small business development agencies and learning centres for offering free and affordable programs that helped turn her vision into reality.
Their reputation is built on trust, consistency, and genuine care that keeps clients returning year after year. With expert knowledge, cutting edge techniques, compassionate care, and a strong community focus, deTails Dog Grooming continues to set the standard for lucky dogs in Leeds Grenville, and beyond.

| | Petitions to Support LaSalle Causeway Solution | | |
The LaSalle Causeway Bridge in Kingston continues to be a concern as it restricts the flow of marine traffic into the Rideau Canal, thereby reducing visitor spending in communities along its 202km route.
With no timeline or plans for a permanent solution, MP Barrett and MPP Clark have filed Petitions at the federal and provincial levels of government. These petitions have been created to bring attention of the urgency for the federal government Public Services and Procurement Canada to have an operational replacement bridge that restores full navigation to the Rideau Canal.
