Economic Development releases New Online Community Guide
Williston Economic Development is pleased to announce the launch of the new digital community guide. The guide is designed to attract workers. It also serves as a great resource for newcomers. The publication is located online at http://community.willistonnd.comBusinesses are encouraged to share the link on their websites. 


Comparing District 1 and 8's Proposed School Building Plans
Both school districts need more space for students in grades k-5 and high school.
Williston Herald - Public School District No. 1 is 27 days away and a referendum on building two elementary schools and a high school in Williams County Public School District No. 8 is 62 days away. Both plans would add more than 40 mills to residents' property tax bills. Click here for the numbers you need to know for the plans.

WHS Students explore Potential Career Paths

Williston Economic Development - Students from Williston High School fanned out into the workforce on March 12 for Job Shadow Day. One of the job shadowing sites was City Hall. City Administrator David Tuan gave Hayden Kemp and Jaydon Kvande a behind the scenes look at city government. The tour included a stop at economic development and an introduction to WED executive director Shawn Wenko. Other students job shadowed professionals in the IT industry, veterinarians, photographers, law enforcement officers, teachers and more! The project gives seniors valuable information about potential careers.
SBDC to launch New Promotional Campaign
Williston Economic Development is helping the Small Business Development Center launch its "I Heart the ND SBDC" promotion. Get ready for the great outdoors at the Williston Sports and Receation Show!
Williston Herald - There's sun in the forecast and the temperatures are above zero, so many people's minds are turning to spring. With the warm weather comes fishing, camping, boating and other outdoor activities, making it the perfect time to visit the Williston Sports and Recreation Show.  The Sports and Rec Show returns to the Raymond Family Community Center for the entire weekend, from Friday, March 15, to Sunday, March 17, and is full of activities and attractions for all ages.   Read More

McKenzie County Commission approves $500,000 Grant for Shooting Range

McKenzie County Farmer - While construction of a new public shooting range in McKenzie County won't begin in earnest until the snow is gone, the McKenzie County Sportsmen's Club's project received a financial boost when the McKenzie County Board of County Commissioners approved a $500,000 grant to help them with plans.  For the full story, subscribe to the McKenzie County Farmer

Wild Flour Cafe and Bakery opens in Alexander

Roundup - Alexander resident Donna Sims has opened The Wild Flour Café & Bakery in the former Country Café location at 718 Elk Street,  Alexander. Sims is the former owner of Old School Meat Processing that was in operation from 2007-2012. Sims' daughters Alex and Emmalee also help at the restaurant. " For us it is a community place," said Sims. "Its so wonderful that people took their own free time to help with the remodel."  Read More
Eastern Montana's only 24-Hour Port of Entry from Canada to close at Midnight
Billings Gazette - There will be no 24-hour port of entry from Canada into eastern Montana starting a month from now, if the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol carries out changes announced Thursday.  The CBP website says it will reduce its hours of operation at four ports of entry on the Canada border beginning on April 14:  The Port of Raymond north of Plentywood, which is now Montana's only 24-port into Saskatchewan, would be closed midnight to 6 a.m. and the  ports of Scobey, Opheim and Morgan (north of Malta) will  operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. year round, eliminating longer summertime hours that had extended to 9 p.m.  Read More

The 34th annual show will feature campers, boats, ATVs, hunting and fishing guides, outdoor equipment, cooking equipment and a Kid Zone at the Raymond Family Community Center.

The commission meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

04/03 ------ 1 Million Cups
The community is invited to 1MC at 8:30 a.m. at Williston State College Teton Lounge. The event and coffee are free!

04/12 ----- Marketplace for Kids
Elementary students will showcase their startups and learn about running businesses from area business leaders.

04/27 ------ Clean Up Williston
Volunteers are encouraged to sign up to clean a specific zone or attend the clean up on Saturday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Davidson Park.
