Important Funding News
PPP loans are now only available through participating Community Financial Institutions (CFIs).

After serving more than 8 million small businesses, general funding for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) has been exhausted.

The SBA will continue funding outstanding approved PPP applications, but new qualifying applications will only be funded through a set-aside for Community Financial Institutions (CFIs).

Restaurant Revitalization Fund
Restaurant
The SBA is currently accepting applications for the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF).

While all qualified businesses are allowed -- and encouraged -- to apply now, under the law the SBA will prioritize RRF applications from small business concerns owned and controlled by women, veterans, and socially and economically disadvantaged individuals for the first 21 days of the program.

Following the 21-day period, all eligible applications will be funded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Shuttered Venue Operators Grant
SBA continues to accept applications for the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG).

Interested applicants can receive application support from an SBA Resource Partner; and can contact 1-800-659-2955 for technical assistance with the application portal.

Storm Damage Assistance
Low-interest federal disaster loans are now available to certain private nonprofit organizations in Washington state following President Biden’s federal disaster declaration for Public Assistance as a result of the severe winter storm, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides that occurred Dec. 29 - Jan. 16, 202.

These low-interest federal disaster loans are available in Clallam, Columbia, Grays Harbor, Island, Jefferson, Klickitat, Lewis, Mason, Okanogan, Pacific, Pend Oreille, Skagit, Skamania, Snohomish, Spokane and Wahkiakum counties.

Applicants may apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information, and download applications at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/.  Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email [email protected] or for more information on SBA disaster assistance. Individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing may call (800) 877-8339.

Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)
Funding still available for new or increased Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL).

Whether you have an existing COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and want to apply for an increase; or are interested in applying for an initial COVID-19 EIDL, funding is available for loans up to $500,000.

Upcoming Grants
Destination Marketing Organizations (Tourism)

The Washington Tourism Alliance (WTA) is administering a grant program with the Washington Department of Commerce to deliver approximately $1 million in Covid-19 relief funds to non-profit destination marketing organizations across Washington State.

WTA will administer this non-profit DMO grant program for specified revenue losses or expenditures incurred above and beyond their normal operating expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic between the dates of March 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.

Qualified applicants must be nonprofit organizations with the primary purpose of destination marketing. They must prove a decrease in revenue, dues or destination marketing contract funding related to visitor industry pandemic impact (i.e. loss of lodging tax receipts; TPA assessments; etc.) or demonstrate expenses incurred above and beyond the DMO’s current budget in direct correlation to the COVID-19 pandemic. No duplicate payments or supplanting of other costs are allowed.

Click here for the application. All applications must be uploaded here by 5 p.m. on May 14, 2021. Grant distribution will depend on the number of applications and the total amount requested. Funding decisions will be communicated to requesters by June 1, 2021.
Non-Profit Relief

The Washington State Department of Commerce is pleased to partner with ArtsFund to administer over $10 million in Nonprofit Community Recovery (NCR) grants.

These pandemic recovery grants will be administered by ArtsFund to Washington nonprofits meeting the eligibility requirements listed below. Organizations that are led by and/or serve under-resourced communities, culturally diverse populations, and underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.

Grants will be distributed to nonprofits statewide in four focus areas listed below. Washington State Department of Commerce is partnering with ArtsFund to center the grants program on arts, cultural, science, and heritage organizations. Grants will also be awarded to nonprofit neighborhood associations, sports and recreation organizations, and veterans organizations.

All applications received by the May 24 deadline will be considered.

Working Washington Grants - Round 4
As of this morning (May 10th) Working Washington Grants: Round 4 (WWR4) award notifications have gone out. There were 11,697 businesses across the entire state receiving funding. For those receiving funds there is information on how to enter your bank account information to process and receive payment.

Funding denial notifications were also distributed today. The appeals process starts today, May 10 and runs until May 24th or until the funding runs out.  If you are an applicant who believes you were unfairly denied a grant, it is recommended that you first review the program’s eligibility before gathering the following information:

  • Applicant Name
  • Business Name
  • Application ID
  • Email address
  • Phone
  • Reason application should be reconsidered

Send this information to [email protected] with the Subject: Appeal (Business Name).  

Commerce’s WWR4 team will review the application and provide the applicant the reasons for the denial and then inform them whether or not they will have an opportunity for reconsideration.
