Biden Issues an Infrastructure ‘Roadmap’ to Help Spend $1 Trillion Made Available by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal
The goal of the 461-page book is to ensure communities have the details on how to qualify for funding, no matter their size or politics, the administration said. The book is meant to make it easier for smaller cities, tribal leaders, nonprofits and faith-based groups to compete for money. The infrastructure deal is unique as it goes beyond roads and bridges to include broadband internet, replacement of lead water pipes and resilience against climate change. (The Associated Press)

FDA Gives Full Approval to Moderna’s COVID-19 Vaccine
The FDA granted full approval to Moderna’s COVID vaccine – already given to tens of millions of Americans since its emergency authorization. It means the agency completed the same rigorous review of the shot as dozens of other long-established vaccines. The decision was bolstered by real-world evidence from the more than 200 million doses administered in the U.S. since the FDA cleared the shot in December 2020. The FDA granted full approval of Pfizer’s vaccine last August. (The Associated Press)

Burnout and Pandemic Stress Cause Some Teachers to Walk Away
After nearly two years of teaching during a pandemic, stressed-out teachers are walking away from their profession. That’s exacerbating a shortage of teachers that was a problem even before the pandemic. (NJ Spotlight News)

To Fill a Shortage, the Camden School District Will Hire Teachers from Other Countries
The Camden school district has tried online ads, college partnerships and job fairs to tackle its ongoing teacher shortage. Now, the district is trying something new: Hiring teachers from outside the U.S. with a temporary visa to work in city schools. The school board approved the new program that officials hope will expand its pool of applicants, specifically for bilingual and English as a Second Language vacancies. (nj.com)

Now that Jersey City has Agreed to Upgrade Water and Sewer Lines, How Will the City Pay For It?
The price tag to reshape the aging systems – some city sewer lines may still be wooden – is more than $1 billion, city and federal officials said. The work will fall upon the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority, the agency responsible for the city’s water and sewage. But who will pay for the necessary and expensive project remains unclear. Most expect that the city will bear the cost, but it’s possible that state and federal grants could defray some of the expense. (nj.com)
