September 2019 Newsletter

In recent years, Center City Philadelphia has grown in its attractiveness and activity, bringing an increase in the number of pedestrians, transit riders, cyclists, and drivers of all types sharing its narrow street grid. Adding to the pressure is the emergence of ridesharing and online shopping deliveries which have put new kinds of demands on the grid. The resulting traffic congestion impacts residents throughout the city, costing them valuable time and limiting their ability to reliably access employment and amenities. Our report to SEPTA quantified the economic and social losses caused by traffic congestion.
